We Make Minnesota
We Make Minnesota@wemakemn·
The term “wasteful spending” gets thrown around a lot at the Legislature, and it’s important that we have a real conversation about what is “good” and what is “wasteful.” Cutting public services to give tax cuts and handouts to billionaires and corporations is wasteful.

Legislative proposals to cut income taxes would result in sustained, massive losses of income tax revenue, putting tax breaks for the rich over the needs of working families. Now is the time to ask your legislator to preserve Montana's revenue and vote no on income tax cuts.

We have a choice between tax giveaways for wealthy corporate shareholders or investments right here, in our recovery and our families. North Carolina can’t afford to do both. I’ll choose North Carolina families every time.

"In order to pay for the Trump tax cuts, you will likely see cuts to federal programs - things like safety net cuts, health and education programs, Medicaid budgets, SNAP benefits, housing programs, and more." - Amber Wallin, State Revenue Alliance forbes.com/sites/taxnotes…

Policymakers are considering decisions that could impact millions, from cutting vital services to extending tax breaks for the wealthy. Alternative, evidence-based paths to invest in families and communities exist — it’s a matter of choice. cbpp.org/research/feder…

This is pretty satisfying after all those years of "everyone's leaving NJ!" hysteria that was mostly anti-tax nonsense. "New Jersey is kicking off 2025 with record-levels of growth including the largest number of jobs and employers to date." insidernj.com/new-jersey-lea…

This is how Trump's tax scam would be distributed. "A family could get a couple rounds of groceries!" Not quite. The whole thing would be paid for by tariffs (higher costs) and cuts to healthcare and Social Security. The richest 1% would get a family of four's salary, though.

Last week, a Treasury analysis showed that renewing the Trump tax breaks will send $2.4 trillion to people who make more than $400k a year. Last week, we learned that Republicans in Congress are eyeing $2.4 trillion in cuts to Medicaid and the ACA. Total coincidence, I'm sure.

New Treasury analysis shows the 2017 tax law’s tilt to the top & high cost - $4.2T to extend the individual & estate tax provisions, with ~50% of the benefit going to the top 5% of households (incomes >$320k/year) and 30% to the top 1% (incomes >$743k/yr). home.treasury.gov/system/files/1…

People who want to cut health care for low and moderate-income people while also cutting taxes for rich people know that they're wildly out of step with most Americans. So they hope that we won't use plain language to describe their plans, and they complain about it when we do.
Michael F. Cannon 🇮🇪🇺🇸@mfcannon

“Spending money on tax cuts“ and “mak[ing] working people pick up the tab [for tax cuts] by cutting their health care” is Alice-in-Wonderland-meets-Stockholm-syndrome-level nonsense, where not taxing is spending, and not spending is taxing. Hyperbole would be an improvement.
