I resigned today from the German "African Studies Association" #VAD . They hold a workshop for their 50th anniversary reflecting on their history-without a single African speaker. I find this unacceptable&asked them to reconsider. They didn't see the need for this. So I am out.

I’m a man who can get pregnant. I’m not an anomaly. Even if trans ppl only make up 1% of the population there are 7 billion ppl on this planet. There are over a million of us out here. These anti-abortion laws effect men like me & non-binary folks as well. Don’t forget about us.

I understand the intentions of those saying “my family came from nothing in Ireland/England/Germany” in an effort to create empathetic parallels But the truth is that this isn’t so much about immigration from poor countries as much as it’s about immigrants being black & brown
