Background and Timeline Rory James Nairn, a 26-year-old plumber from Dunedin, New Zealand, received his first dose of the Pfizer-BioNTech COVID-19 vaccine (Comirnaty) on 5 November 2021 at a local pharmacy. He soon developed symptoms including chest discomfort and heart flutters. These persisted over the following days, during which he reportedly searched online for information about "heart racing" and possible vaccine-related issues. On 17 November 2021—12 days after vaccination—he collapsed at home while preparing to seek medical help. His fiancée discovered him unresponsive in the bathroom; emergency responders performed CPR for approximately 40 minutes without success, and he was pronounced dead at the scene.
