BREAKING: SANDERSON OUT AT NORTHRIDGE Barry Sanderson was informed on Thursday by Northridge principal, Dr. Jessica Williams that he is not being retained as the boys basketball coach. In his three seasons at the helm, Sanderson posted a 73-26 record, winning the Class 6A Area 6 Championship in 2025, taking the Jags to the Elite 8 for the first time in program history. Prior to his time at Northridge, Coach Sanderson spent six seasons at Tuscaloosa Academy. He went 120-36 with two state titles and six area championships. Northridge parents were sent an email informing them of the decision to part ways with Sanderson. The email is attached below. Coach Sanderson, who also served as an assistant coach in the college ranks for six schools released a statement to me this morning: “Some parents didn’t like the direction of the program and voiced concerns to the administration. The administration decided to go in a different direction. I’m very appreciative that I got to coach and mentor great kids over my three years at Northridge.”
