A parent's car was swept away by floodwaters while they were heading back to Corpus Christi Catholic Basic School, Community 18, Spintex, to pick up their daughter. Fortunately, they escaped unhurt, and the vehicle was carried by the waters to a pole near the school premises.

It's time we put politics aside and have an honest national conversation about flooding in Accra. We can't keep treating this as a yearly disaster. Some buildings blocking waterways and flood-prone areas will have to be removed, no matter who owns them. Tough decisions today will save lives tomorrow.

Severe flooding has been reported in an estate community along the Manet area, where heavy rainfall has submerged streets and compounds.
Residents are reportedly trapped in their homes as floodwaters rise across the neighborhood. Several parked vehicles have been swept away, with some partially submerged and others drifting within the flooded streets.
The situation has left the entire community heavily disrupted as Accra continues to experience widespread flooding following the downpour. 🌧️🇬🇭

People have taken advantage of the situation to salvage the washed items which included electrical gadgets and toiletries — Floodwaters from this morning’s heavy rainfall reportedly swept items from an unknown warehouse into nearby gutters, with residents seen collecting goods carried along by the water. Items recovered reportedly included provisions, toiletries, gas cylinders, and electrical gadgets.
