The signs were there on @unusual_whales Periscope After $SPX tested the heaviest MM +GEX below at $7010, +GEX moved higher and higher all morning. $SPX conquered +GEX at $7025 and $7035, now pushing through the negative GEX zone with MMs set up at $7070 Think they'll get it?

If you missed Monday’s Whale Watch on @unusual_whales with @NicholasFNS and myself, we walked through some standout $MU call flow that ended up being a great example of how to track a position from entry to exit. Today we revisited that same flow and broke down exactly how it played out. You can watch the full recap around the 9 minute mark of the stream where we go through it step by step in real time. The original whale came in with size, trading 1,511 contracts at the ask with an average entry of 14.00. On 4/14, we saw open interest increase by 1,742, confirming that a large portion of that position was still open after the initial entry day. Following that entry, there were no major volume spikes, which suggested the position was being held rather than actively traded. At the open on 4/14, we started to see contracts trade actively on both the ask and bid, with fills ranging from 20.00 up to 25.20. This is where things start to shift, and why tracking open interest becomes so important. Despite over 3,800 contracts trading on 4/14, open interest only increased by 382 going into 4/15. That tells us a large portion of those contracts were being transferred to another party or parties, meaning the original whale was likely exiting while other participants were stepping in. Based on those fills, the original position likely secured around a 70 to 80% return, taking advantage of that move from 14.00 into the low to mid 20s. That said, the contracts did continue higher, eventually reaching a high of 44.65, which would have marked a max move of about 219% from the original entry. A strong trade either way for this whale.

If you missed yesterday’s Whale Watch on @unusual_whales with @NicholasFNS and myself, this was a really solid example of how to actually analyze flow instead of just reacting to it. $MU 05/08 300p put seller: 2.38 → 1.25 for a 47.48% premium capture $MU 04/24 430c call buyer: 14.00 → 30.92 for a 120.86% move $MU 05/08 300p was our possible premium seller. You can go back to around the 1:15 mark of the stream and watch us break it down live. We were focused on how the contracts were filling and how IV was actively decreasing on the bid, which pointed much more toward selling than buying. Those contracts have now decayed from 2.38 to a low of 1.25 today, with the whale collecting roughly 47.48% of the premium so far. They’re still about 32% out of the money, and based on how this was structured, it looks like the seller is still fully in the position. $MU 04/24 430c was our possible contract buyer. We went over this one around the 1:44 mark, shortly after spotting the put seller. Here, we were paying close attention to the aggressiveness of the fills, how it was trading relative to spot, and the overall structure to lean toward a buyer. Those contracts moved from 14.00 to a high of 30.92 today, a 120.86% overnight move. We are starting to see some intraday volume come in, which could be early profit taking, so checking open interest tomorrow will matter here. This is really what we mean when we talk about using @unusual_whales the right way. It’s not about chasing alerts, it’s about slowing down, reading the flow properly, understanding what IV is doing, and stacking confirmation to build a real thesis.

I post a lot of flow recaps from the @unusual_whales Whale Watch show, and today was another solid example. @NicholasFNS was dialed in on Periscope as usual, and one of the setups I highlighted was the $DOW 5/15 37.5c. These contracts came in around a 2.26 average and ran to a high of 3.60, closing just slightly off the highs. Price made a strong move after the flow hit with very little pullback. That’s a 59.29% intraday move, and the contracts are now 5% in the money. You can watch us break this down in real time at the 1:16 mark of the stream.

If you missed last Monday’s @unusual_whales Whale Watch, you missed a really clean piece of flow that @NicholasFNS and I broke down in real time. We flagged unusual activity on the $INSP 5/15 70c, and you can watch the full breakdown around the 2 hour 15 minute mark of the stream. This was exactly the kind of setup we look for. Over 10,000 contracts traded near the ask against just 16 open interest, making it very clear this was new positioning. Once we dug deeper, it was also tagged as low historical volume flow, meaning this name doesn’t usually see much options activity. That alone makes the flow stand out even more. The flow structure checked all the boxes. You had increasing spot fills, contracts trading consistently near the ask, and implied volatility rising alongside the flow. What made it even better was the lack of competing volume that day. There weren’t any major spikes elsewhere, which gave us confidence that this flow would carry over into the next session. We ended up seeing that follow through on 4/2, with 12,427 contracts carrying over into the next session. From there, the contracts pushed up to a high of 3.30 today. The whale’s average was roughly 1.77, so that’s a max move of 86.44% so far, and they’re still holding. This is exactly what we focus on during the live sessions. Finding clean, actionable flow and walking through it step by step so you understand what actually matters. We’ll be back live Wednesday at market open. If you’re trying to get better at reading flow, don’t miss it.
