The last of my images from Negative Week placed relatively few tonal demands on the photographic process. It does, however, say something about the North of England and our attempts to escape from the legacy of industrial decline. Well, I think it does anyway.

It's one thing going traveling to exotic locations (Liverpool!), but you can't beat West Yorkshire. We've got chimneys to distract you, mills to confound you, and hills to soothe you. You can keep your Taj Mahals, your Eiffel Towers, even your three Mersey Graces; give me the view over Halifax from Beacon Hill any day.

I’m not telling you where it is or when I took it - you wouldn’t want me telling you who did it, would you? - but you can wander around the car scrap yards and factory chimneys at your leisure and see what you can find.
