Now that Taylor Swift has finally got married, after what has seemed like an epic run up that has taken too much time and far too many column inches, could she please stay off our news feeds once and for all? Thanks awfully,

This is so true. Also the places that won’t take cash now are increasing and only the banks will benefit from a cashless society.

“I work the front desk at a small doctor’s office, and I wish people could see what happens on the other side of the phone. Every day, older patients call us confused. They are told to use the patient portal, upload documents, check lab results online, fill out forms before the visit, and confirm everything through a link. Some of them do not know what a portal is. Some do not have a smartphone. Some have one, but they are afraid to click the wrong thing. Last week, a man in his late 80s called about his test results. He said, “Ma’am, I don’t mean to bother you, but the computer says I have a message and I don’t know how to open it.” He sounded ashamed. That broke my heart. He should not have to feel ashamed for needing a human being. Technology can be helpful. I understand that. But when people who built this country are made to feel helpless because everything became a login and a password, we have gone too far. Not everything needs to be an app. Not every answer should be hidden behind a screen. Sometimes people need a voice. A patient person. A real human who says, “Don’t worry, I can help you.” Progress should not leave seniors behind. Because one day, the world will move faster than us too. And I hope someone is kind enough to slow down. ~Unknown

Never forget Christian Zedig. He just wanted to support a European country at the World Cup in Europe. A migrant gang killed him for it.

Remember this is not providing more revenue for our economy. No extra teachers in the public sector, (in fact less), with now more kids to teach as children are forced out of their schools, away from their friends, and jobs lost. Private schools like small businesses (also closing at an alarming rate) pay taxes on profit, reduce numbers in public schools (giving more resources for those there) and again … provide jobs, where those employed also pay their taxes not take welfare. Politics of greed & envy are truly vile but also destructive to our economic health over all. But this is also hypocritical as universities selling their wears to more foreign students than British these days do not pay vat!
ENT - Education Not Taxation@EducationNotTax

Sadly, @DurhamHighSch has announced its closure after 142 years of giving girls an education they for so long had been denied. This school has 281 pupils, leaving all but those graduating this year having to find a new school place and leave the world they knew. That now makes 126 school closures. It doesn't have to be this way. We wish the students, staff and families all the best during this difficult time. durhamhighschool.com

Charlie Weimers MEP 🇸🇪
Vila i frid, Christian. Jag önskar dina nära och kära all styrka i detta fullständiga mörker och att dansk polis snarast kan gripa gärningsmännen så att rättvisa kan skipas.

I’m putting it out there so that the Universe knows it. My best mate, who I’ve known for 30 years, sent me a care package because I need a bit of cheering up (he knows why). He’s a dear friend and I think the world of him.

Give A Shit About Nature
Give A Shit About Nature@giveashitnature·
Swiss farmers planted flowers between their crops and watched pest damage drop by over half. The UK is now running the same trial across 15 farms. The reason this works is embarrassingly simple. A Swiss study on winter wheat found that fields with wildflower strips had 40 to 53% fewer leaf beetle pests than fields without. Crop damage dropped 61%. The mechanism is simple. Wildflowers feed hoverflies, lacewings, parasitic wasps, ladybugs, and ground beetles. Those insects eat the aphids, beetle larvae, and caterpillars that farmers would otherwise spray for. A few meters of wildflowers hosts an unpaid pest control crew that would jump at the chance to whoop some aphid ass. In apple orchards where no insecticides had been used for five years, plots with wildflower alleyways had 9.2% damaged fruit. Control plots without flowers had 32.5%. The UK is now running a five-year trial across 15 farms placing 6-meter flower strips through the middle of fields, not just at the edges, because the beneficial insects can't reach the center of a large field otherwise. This works the same way in a backyard vegetable garden as it does on a commercial farm. Plant native flowering species near your tomatoes, beans, and squash. The pests still show up, but the predators show up too. Study doi: 20151369

Several people, this week, have asked me who it is in my profile picture. It is, of course, my hero Sir Ernest Shackleton, a peerless leader and motivator of men in truly desperate times. This was his advert for his legendary 1914-1917 Imperial Trans-Antarctic Expedition, A film about which you can see here: youtube.com/watch?v=qvo28N…

The killer of teenager, Rene Graham, has been jailed for 35 years. The judge said Aderahman Boumzough was "proud and boastful" about his crimes. We shouldn't have to live like this. This is the only country we have.

Prosecutors have been told they must ‘consider unconscious bias’ before charging ethnic minorities. This risks yet more two-tier justice. So I have called on the CPS to drop this nonsense. Justice must be blind.
