Old but optimistic. The best things in my life are family and friends, books, music, old films, flowers, wine and cake

@mufasabarrett Hello Natasha - sorry, this is @debmarson, Norma’s daughter, not a tweet from the beyond... Looking at your bio, RHC is the connection. She was a student there from 1947 to 1950. Thank you for your kind comments.

Norma followed me a few years back and I could never work out whether we had mutual connections or she just randomly came across my twitter profile, but she would often reply to my posts with lovely, funny responses and was such a warm, friendly person! I'm so sad to hear this: twitter.com/NormaMarson/st…

Ever the journalist, she never lost her interest in what was going on in the world, from major events to the goings on in Ambridge. We know she would want to say goodbye & thanks to all her online friends. The Marson family 2/2 Norma Marson (29.04.30-21.04.18)

@LilianHarry @BBCTheArchers Never! 🦍 And that time he tried to get into her bed & it turned out to be Phil’s...
English

@NormaMarson @BBCTheArchers I don’t recall them being desperate. Shula was a very popular girl. And have we forgotten Nigel in his gorilla suit?! #TheArchers
English

What (or who) was Shula's first love? #thearchers bbc.in/2qVBkj6
English

@LilianHarry @BBCTheArchers 🙄 She certainly never lacked admirers, so I’m surprised when tweetalongers say Phil & Jill were desperate to get her off their hands. #thearchers
English

@LilianHarry @BBCTheArchers Yes, she did have a boyfriend called Robin, but I think he came later.
English

@FloralRainbowAW @abbyaug They are so cheering, the way they reappear year after year.

@PaulCDunnEsq So? Last night I waited up for my Ocado delivery at - gasp - 10 pm!
English

@KeriWarbis She seems pretty well regarded in the village. She came as an outsider, 2nd wife, no country background, & made a success of being farmer’s wife/helpmeet,homemaker, & mother of 4, including twins.
English

@NormaMarson Of course it was she AND Phil who produced these offspring.
It was just that we were talking about Jill in this thread.
She’s not really a likeable character (imo).
Perfection. What’s that?! Ha!

@KeriWarbis @LilianHarry People certainly seemed to be more contented with their lot, & this looking back to a more placid time was part of the Archers’ long-lasting appeal. Less exciting but less stressful.
English

@LilianHarry @NormaMarson It would be really great to have more of that balance, Lilian.
I’m pretty sure it was there a fair few years ago.... (or have I got a rose-tinted view of past Archers eps, I wonder?).

@KeriWarbis To quote the famous last line of Some Like It Hot, nobody’s perfect. Mothers come in for a lot of blame, often unfairly, but they don’t get the same credit when children turn out well!
English

@NormaMarson She is much maligned, you’re right.
No smoke without fire on the being maligned front, though?
;-P
Tricky being a mother sometimes.....
(But she’s produced a batch of rather selfish/needy adults in Shula, Kenton, David & Elizabeth).

English

@KeriWarbis Message received & understood. Only wanted to stick up for the much maligned Jill. Agree no one knows truth about other people’s relationships. #thearchers
English

@NormaMarson Norma, most of my Archers tweets are full of abject silliness. I recommend you pay little attention to them :-)
She appeared to hugely simplify things. No one really knows what goes on in another couples’ relationship.
Alistair doesn’t know what’s going on in his own.
