I've always harbored a special alottment of love inside of my heart for Europe and for the Europeans.
As a White founding stock American, Europe is my ethnic homeland; and the Europeans are, in some sense, my distant relatives.
My wife is a German woman, and my two children are both American-German citizens. Half of my family lives in Germany.
I've probably spent more time around Europeans than 99.99999% of Americans.
Sincerely, I've always loved the Europeans and I've always viewed them as being 'like me.'
That said, as time goes on, I've been forced to realize -- very depressingly so -- that the VAST majority of Europeans don't reciprocate this sense of ethnic or cultural solidarity.
My naïve, American sense of pan-Atlantic Western solidarity doesn't really seem to exist in Europe.
That said, I'm going to keep on loving them anyway, but the dynamic is depressing, nonetheless.

I don't even understand why right-wing anons exist. Unpopular opinion: if Trump can get gas prices down & keep casualties minimal, he can continue this war indefinitely. Americans are used to “background violence.” I would prefer a decisive resolution obviously, but he has plenty of runway.

In case you haven't worked it out, the Iranians used the downed pilot as bait. I doubt Iran wanted to actually capture them. They would have acted like beacons. There is no negotiated solution possible and prisoners are just burdensome in a war like this, as Gaza taught everyone. Trump would have used the downed pilots as further justification for his stupid campaign.

The US bombed a crowd of civilians, in response the HH-60 Pave Hawk helicopter was destroyed and everyone on board, including the special forces pilot and crew is dead.

Until recently, Hamideh Soleimani Afshar and her daughter were green card holders living lavishly in the United States. Afshar is the niece of deceased Iranian Major General Qasem Soleimani. She is also an outspoken supporter of the Iranian regime who celebrated attacks on Americans and referred to our country as the "Great Satan." This week, I terminated both Afshar and her daughter's legal status and they are now in ICE custody, pending removal from the United States. The Iran war won't last forever. I give it a few more weeks of bombing at best.
Trump is not going to invade with American soldiers. The Conservatives are mostly fine with an air bombing campaign, but nobody except Lindsey Graham wants a full invasion.
Most military targets are already destroyed. The economy of Iran is wrecked for years to come. Critical bridges, electric grid infrastructure, steel factories .. will take years to rebuild.
The leadership is decimated. 99% of the top 300 leaders (religious and military) are dead.
The bombing campaign is running out of useful targets. They have all been hit at this point.
Trump could stop the active bombing, but continue to maintain the air dominance with US planes controlling the air space, denying Iran any flights.
Wait and see what develops with the new leadership of Iran. There will be a power struggle in Iran as the mid level leaders come out of hiding. It remains to be seen what the policies of the new leaders will be.
That is really the only path forward. We don't want to invade and occupy Iran. At some point we have to sit back and see what forms in the new Iran.
