우리 선수들이 큰 무대 경험이 부족하다 보니, 세계 최상위권 팀들의 엄청난 이름값과 무게감에 짓눌려 기세가 꺾이는 모습이 잦아 최근 경기들의 아쉬운 결과가 나왔습니다. 연습 과정에서 수없이 맞춰온 우리만의 플레이가 위압감에 막혀 나오지 못하는 것을 보며 저 역시 무척 뼈아프고 안타까웠습니다. 어제 경기 직후, 늦은 밤까지 선수들과 모여 무겁고 진중한 피드백 시간을 가졌습니다. 내일 맞붙게 될 '라쿤' 역시 오랜 시간 단단하게 합을 맞춰온 최고의 강팀입니다. 하지만 저는 이 자리에서 선수들에게 상대의 거대한 이름값에 지레 주눅 들지 말 것을 당부했습니다. 상대가 강한 것은 분명한 사실이지만 지금의 우리는 잃을 것이 없는 도전자이기에, 결과에 대한 무거운 책임은 감독인 제가 모두 짊어질 테니 그저 무대를 즐기며 오투만의 열정과 패기로 거침없이 부딪혀 달라고 강하게 주문했습니다. 훌륭한 전술을 짜는 것도 중요하지만, 거대한 벽 앞에서 어린 선수들이 좌절하지 않고 기꺼이 부딪혀 성장할 수 있도록 '단단한 마음가짐'을 길러주는 것이 감독의 가장 중요한 역할이라고 믿습니다. 우리 선수들은 이대로 무너지지 않고 다시 일어설 것입니다. 지금의 뼈아픈 시간이 선수들을 훌쩍 성장시켜 줄 거라 굳게 믿습니다. 내일 라쿤전, 결과에 쫄지 않고 도전자 특유의 패기로 거침없이 맞서겠습니다. 선수들이 기죽지 않고 스스로 알을 깨고 나올 수 있도록, 팬 여러분의 따뜻한 응원으로 힘을 실어주세요.

[2026 OWWC 브라질 국가대표팀 감독직을 마치며] 브라질 국가대표팀의 2026 오버워치 월드컵 여정과 함께할 수 있어 영광이었습니다. 본선 진출이라는 목표를 위해 저와 오투블래스트 코치진, 선수들, 그리고 브라질 위원회 모두가 열정을 쏟아부었기에 아쉬움이 너무나도 큽니다. 브라질 팀을 응원해 주신 팬 여러분께 죄송한 마음과 그동안의 소회를 전하고자 합니다. 당초 저는 평소 호감을 가졌던 열정의 나라 브라질 위원회의 적극적인 제안에 깊이 공감하여, 무급임에도 오직 '브라질 대표팀의 유니폼을 입고 월드컵 무대에 서보자'는 열망 하나로 오투 코치진(Myunbong, Cane)과 함께 합류했습니다. 본 소속팀(O2 Blast)의 일정으로 인해 처음에는 VOD 피드백만 진행하기로 협의했으나, 예선이 다가올수록 열정이 가득했던 선수들의 간절한 요청과 이들을 1%라도 더 돕고 싶은 마음에 저희 코치진은 3주가 넘는 시간 동안 하루 3시간 남짓 수면을 취하며 양 팀의 실시간 피드백과 코칭에 매진했습니다. 하지만 의욕과 달리 체력 및 컨디션 관리에 실패했고, 결과적으로 가장 중요한 순간에 세밀하고 날카로운 코칭을 제공하지 못한 점을 뼈저리게 반성합니다. 스태프의 컨디션 관리가 얼마나 중요한지 다시금 깨달았습니다. 대회를 준비하며 발생한 여러 변수를 감독으로서 완벽히 통제하지 못한 점도 무겁게 체감합니다. 꼼꼼한 인재 발굴이라는 위원회의 좋은 취지와 달리 트라이얼 기간이 길어지며 선수들의 피로도가 누적되었습니다. 여기에 더해 예기치 못한 게임 외적 사유로 제 권한 밖에서 이루어진 갑작스러운 로스터 변동, 일부 선수의 피치 못할 사정으로 인해 때때로 용병을 기용하며 진행해야 했던 연습, 상대 팀의 잦은 스크림 취소로 인한 연습 공백 등 악재가 겹치며 온전한 팀합을 맞출 시간이 절대적으로 부족했습니다. 감독으로서 주도적으로 대비책을 마련했어야 했음에도, 현지 사정을 잘 모른다는 자기 합리화로 위원회의 대책만을 기다리며 시간을 지체한 점은 명백한 저의 판단 착오이자 가장 큰 패착입니다. 특히 상대 팀 대비 100ms 이상 차이 나는 높은 핑 환경은 선수들에게 너무나 가혹했습니다. 조금이라도 나은 환경을 위해 제 사비로 VPN을 지원하기도 했지만 근본적인 해결책이 될 수는 없었습니다. 열악한 환경 탓에 100%의 기량을 발휘하지 못한 선수들이 그저 안타깝습니다. 향후 오버워치 e스포츠의 공정성을 위해서라도 이 부분은 반드시 블리자드 차원의 시스템 개선이 필요하다고 생각합니다. 경기 내적인 운영에 대해서도 제 불찰을 통감합니다. 누적된 피로도를 해결하고자 조합과 전략 구상은 다 함께 하되, 피드백은 코치 1명에게 전담시켜 소통 창구를 단일화했습니다. 효율성을 위한 저의 합리화였지만, 결과적으로 이는 선수들이 제가 아닌 전담 코치만으로는 온전한 신뢰와 무게감을 느끼기 어렵게 만들었고, 나아가 해당 전담 코치에게 극심한 피로가 누적되며 집중력 저하로까지 이어졌습니다. 이러한 문제점을 극복하고자 대회 3주 전부터는 저와 코치진 전원이 실시간 피드백에 집중적으로 참여하기 시작했으나, 온전한 합을 맞추기에는 시간이 많이 늦었던 것 같습니다. 이로 인해 첫 두 경기에서 준비한 전략이 선수들에게 온전히 전달되지 않아 경기에서 제대로 실행되지 못했습니다. 마지막 경기에서는 선수들이 잘 따라주려 노력하였으나 정교한 합을 맞추기엔 역부족이었습니다. 이 모든 것은 선수들의 잘못이 아닌 오롯이 감독인 저의 역량 부족입니다. 저를 보좌해 준 오투 코치진, 저를 믿어준 브라질 위원회, 그리고 끝까지 최선을 다해준 선수들에게 진심으로 고맙고 미안합니다. 통제 불가능한 악재와 판단 착오가 있었음에도 좋은 결과를 내야 하는 것은 결국 감독의 몫이기에, 브라질 팬들의 기대에 부응하지 못한 모든 책임을 무겁게 받아들입니다. 비록 이번 여정은 여기서 멈췄지만, 브라질 선수들이 이 경험을 발판 삼아 미래에 더 큰 무대에서 활약할 것이라 굳게 믿으며 앞으로의 행보도 열렬히 응원하겠습니다. 헌신적으로 애써준 Nyohl, Lokjiiu를 비롯한 브라질 위원회 전원과, 통역과 소통에 큰 도움을 준 ENDAI에게 깊은 감사를 드립니다. 끝으로, 열정적인 응원을 보내주신 브라질 팬 여러분께 아쉬운 결과를 안겨드려 다시 한번 진심으로 사과드리며, 그동안 보내주신 과분한 관심과 사랑에 마음 깊이 감사드립니다. 언젠가 열정의 나라 브라질에 직접 방문하여 팬 여러분과 마주할 수 있는 뜻깊은 기회가 오기를 진심으로 염원합니다.

[Concluindo Minha Jornada como Head Coach da Seleção Brasileira na OWWC 2026] Foi uma honra absoluta fazer parte da jornada da Seleção Brasileira na Copa do Mundo de Overwatch 2026. A comissão técnica da O2 Blast, os jogadores e o Comitê Brasileiro dedicaram toda a paixão ao objetivo de nos classificarmos para o evento principal, o que torna este resultado incrivelmente doloroso para mim. Escrevo isso para compartilhar minhas reflexões e pedir sinceras desculpas aos fãs que apoiaram a equipe brasileira. Inicialmente, me identifiquei profundamente com a proposta apaixonada do Comitê Brasileiro. Sempre tive um grande carinho pelo Brasil, um país cheio de paixão. Por isso, sem qualquer compensação financeira, juntei-me a esta jornada ao lado da comissão técnica da O2 (Myunbong, Cane) com um único e ardente desejo: vestir o uniforme da seleção brasileira e estar no palco da Copa do Mundo. Devido à agenda da O2 Blast, inicialmente concordamos em fornecer apenas feedback por VODs. No entanto, à medida que as classificatórias se aproximavam, ao ver os pedidos sinceros e a paixão dos jogadores, queríamos ajudá-los nem que fosse 1% a mais. Por mais de três semanas, nossa comissão técnica dormiu cerca de três horas por dia, dedicando-se a dar feedback e treinar ambas as equipes ao vivo simultaneamente. Mas, apesar da nossa vontade, falhamos em gerenciar nossa própria saúde e condição física. Como resultado, não conseguimos fornecer o treinamento afiado e detalhado necessário nos momentos mais cruciais. Arrependo-me profundamente disso e percebi mais uma vez o quão vital é para a comissão técnica cuidar de si mesma. Também sinto um peso enorme por não ter conseguido controlar totalmente as variáveis que surgiram durante nossa preparação. Embora a intenção do comitê de avaliar os talentos minuciosamente fosse boa, o período de tryouts se arrastou por muito tempo, causando um acúmulo de fadiga nos jogadores. Além disso, enfrentamos uma série de infortúnios: mudanças repentinas na line-up causadas por problemas externos fora da minha autoridade, treinos que tiveram que ser realizados com o uso de completos ocasionais (substitutos) devido a ausências inevitáveis de jogadores, e o cancelamento de scrims por equipes adversárias, gerando lacunas na nossa preparação. Isso nos deixou com uma falta absoluta de tempo para construir a sinergia da equipe. Como Head Coach, eu deveria ter avaliado proativamente a situação local e estabelecido contramedidas. Em vez disso, usei a desculpa de não conhecer a realidade local para racionalizar a minha espera pelas soluções do comitê e atrasei minhas ações. Esse foi claramente o meu erro de julgamento e a minha maior falha. Em particular, o ambiente injusto onde nossos jogadores tiveram que competir com uma diferença de ping de mais de 100ms em comparação com os oponentes foi muito cruel. Apoiei-os com VPNs pagas do meu próprio bolso para tentar melhorar um pouco a situação, mas não foi uma solução definitiva. Parte meu coração ver jogadores incapazes de mostrar 100% de suas habilidades devido às más condições. Pelo bem da justiça nos esports de Overwatch, acredito que a Blizzard deve melhorar esse sistema no futuro. Também lamento profundamente meu gerenciamento interno e a tomada de decisões. Para gerenciar a fadiga acumulada, elaboramos as composições e estratégias juntos, mas delegamos a comunicação e o feedback inteiramente a um treinador assistente. Racionalizei isso em nome da eficiência, mas, no final, tornou difícil para os jogadores sentirem total confiança e peso em um treinador assistente em comparação com o meu envolvimento direto. Além disso, levou à extrema exaustão e à queda de foco desse treinador dedicado. Para superar isso, toda a nossa comissão técnica começou a participar intensivamente do feedback ao vivo três semanas antes do torneio, mas já era tarde demais para construir a sinergia perfeita. Por causa disso, as estratégias que preparamos para as duas primeiras partidas não foram totalmente transmitidas aos jogadores e não puderam ser executadas adequadamente. Na última partida, os jogadores se esforçaram ao máximo para seguir o plano, mas nos faltou a coordenação refinada necessária para vencer. Isso é inteiramente minha falha como Head Coach, e não culpa dos jogadores. Sou verdadeiramente grato e sinto muito pela comissão técnica da O2 que me ajudou, ao Comitê Brasileiro que confiou em mim e aos jogadores que deram tudo de si até o fim. Mesmo com variáveis incontroláveis e erros de julgamento, é dever do Head Coach apresentar resultados. Assumo todo o peso da responsabilidade por não atender às expectativas dos fãs brasileiros. Embora esta jornada termine aqui, acredito firmemente que os jogadores brasileiros usarão essa experiência como um degrau para brilhar em palcos ainda maiores no futuro. [Concluding My Role as Head Coach of the 2026 OWWC Team Brazil] It was an absolute honor to be a part of the Brazilian National Team's journey for the 2026 Overwatch World Cup. The O2 Blast coaching staff, the players, and the Brazilian Committee poured our hearts and passion into the goal of qualifying for the main event, which makes this outcome incredibly heartbreaking. I am writing this to share my reflections and to sincerely apologize to the fans who supported the Brazilian team. Initially, I deeply connected with the passionate proposal from the Brazilian Committee. I have always had a strong fondness for Brazil, a country full of passion. Thus, without any financial compensation, I joined this journey alongside the O2 coaching staff (Myunbong, Cane) with a single burning desire: to wear the Brazilian national team uniform and stand on the World Cup stage. Due to O2 Blast's existing schedule, we initially agreed to only provide VOD feedback. However, as the qualifiers approached, seeing the players' earnest requests and burning passion, we wanted to help them even 1% more. For over three weeks, our coaching staff slept barely three hours a day, dedicating ourselves to live feedback and coaching for both teams simultaneously. But despite our drive, we failed to manage our own stamina and condition. As a result, we could not provide the sharp, detailed coaching needed at the most crucial moments. I deeply regret this and have realized once again how vital it is for the staff to manage their own conditions. I also feel a heavy burden for failing to fully control the variables that arose during our preparation. While the committee's intention to thoroughly scout talent was good, the tryout period dragged on too long, causing player fatigue to accumulate. On top of that, we faced a series of unfortunate events: sudden roster changes caused by out-of-game issues beyond my authority, practice sessions held with occasional stand-ins due to unavoidable player absences, and canceled scrims by opposing teams leading to gaps in our practice. This left us with an absolute lack of time to build team synergy. As a head coach, I should have proactively assessed the local situation and established countermeasures. Instead, I rationalized my lack of local knowledge and delayed action while waiting for the committee's solutions. This was clearly my misjudgment and my biggest mistake. In particular, the unfair environment where our players had to compete with a ping difference of over 100ms compared to opponents was too harsh. I supported them with VPNs at my own personal expense to slightly improve the situation, but it was not a fundamental solution. It breaks my heart to see players unable to showcase 100% of their skills due to poor conditions. For the sake of fairness in Overwatch esports, I believe Blizzard must improve this system in the future. I also deeply regret my in-game management and decision-making. To manage accumulated fatigue, we drafted team comps and strategies together but delegated the communication and feedback entirely to one assistant coach. I rationalized this for the sake of efficiency, but ultimately, it made it difficult for the players to feel complete trust and weight from an assistant coach compared to my direct involvement. Furthermore, it led to extreme exhaustion and a drop in focus for that dedicated coach. To overcome this, all of our coaching staff began intensively participating in live feedback starting three weeks before the tournament, but it was too late to build perfect synergy. Because of this, the strategies we prepared for the first two matches were not fully conveyed to the players and could not be executed properly. In the final match, the players tried their hardest to follow the plan, but we lacked the refined coordination needed to win. This is entirely my shortcoming as a head coach, not the fault of the players. I am truly grateful and deeply sorry to the O2 coaching staff who assisted me, the Brazilian Committee who trusted me, and the players who gave their all until the end. Even with uncontrollable variables and misjudgments, it is ultimately the head coach's duty to produce results. I bear the full weight of the responsibility for failing to meet the expectations of the Brazilian fans. Although this journey ends here, I firmly believe that the Brazilian players will use this experience as a stepping stone to shine on even bigger stages in the future. I will passionately cheer for their next steps. I also want to extend my deepest gratitude to Nyohl, Lokjiiu, the entire Brazilian Committee for their dedication, and to ENDAI for his incredible help with translation and communication.
