I’ll admit I was wrong about Coby Mayo’s defense in Sarasota and being reactionary to a couple of clips. With that said: is he the most reliable defensive player on the team right now?

Call me crazy but Mayo is the odd man out. If you move Blaze or J. Jackson you are absolutely crazy. Mayo has been playing a good 3rd base but hasn’t hit near as good as the other two. #birdland

I don't agree w/ it being impossible to trade Brandon Aiyuk to a team. Everyone says nobody will trade for that contract. True but what if it a majorly re-worked deal in exchange for a 2027 7th round pick? Teams want some sort of control of markets and price. #Commanders #NFL

@mwcarolina @Coach_Yac Yeah I could see it either way. I doubt they want to still be answering questions about Aiyuk in training camp but before then, I'm not sure why they would bother to release him. Whether he can play or not is a whole other conversation.

@mwcarolina @Coach_Yac Well he does some strange shit, but that would seem like a serious self inflicted wound. Can't show up 9/1 and expect to contribute. Although maybe the 9ers just don't want the storyline come training camp.

@OCon119 @Coach_Yac That’s what I think happens, he’s staying till September 1st. He won’t agree to “play ball” with the 49ers on restructuring which makes him a very difficult trade for any team

@mwcarolina @Coach_Yac SF has no reason to take any hit. If Aiyuk refuses to restructure the current deal to mirror what he and another team agree to out of spite, the 9ers just hold until his bonus is due on Sept 1.

@OCon119 @Coach_Yac Simple, Aiyuk won’t play ball, so either SF agrees to take some type of hit where they pay the contract or they cut him: Aiyuk isn’t going to “re-do” his deal, he wants them to cut him. Washington wants him, but the cap hit is insane

@mwcarolina @Coach_Yac If a team and Aiyuk agree to a 1/15 contract, they go to the 49ers to change the upcoming bonus to 10M and the salary to $5M. Then flip a draft pick to the 49ers for facilitating. That's what they're waiting for, and it's viable.

@OCon119 @Coach_Yac It’s doubtful they want to pay or have to re-work the deal. Otherwise he’d be in Washington now. My guess is remains they fit him a week before the start of the regular season games. I DEFINITELY don’t see ANY team deal a 3rd or 4th!! Especially with that contract

@Coach_Yac Nobody will trade for him unless that contract is changed and I doubt the 49ers are helping the other team with that. If the contract wasn’t bad, my guess is Washington deals Luke McCaffrey for Aiyuk, but because the contract sucks, he’s not being traded. Simms must be high!
