Let's Talk Ball! And let's lay it ALL out there!
This is for OSU fans who truly want solutions. For that segment of fans, let's talk!
I get labeled as a "homer", which is perfectly fine, other than the fact that the message, of which I'll get to in a minute, gets lost. Folks typically find like-minded people to hang with, so if you want to be negative & miserable, you'll find others to be negative & miserable with. Which means, anyone who isn't willing to share in that you will view as a Sunshine Pumper, Homer, whatever term you want to call it. I'll take that ALL DAY, because I have a deeper understanding of what OSU is up against. Or, maybe I don't, but instead, choose to focus on that piece more than just the raw emotions of being mad or upset after we lose.
If you get past ALL of that and actually read the content on this site, you'll see common themes. The coverage is geared towards support, which every coach & player needs, and it's geared towards solutions, which are even more needed. Which means it's NOT geared towards empty complaints, meaning labeling all the problems without also addressing the "Why" or "How" to fix them.
And, here's the formula that I use to fix problems, and apply to my thought process as to what is productive to complain about, and what isn't.
To fix a problem, you need "relief", meaning just get whatever it is gone. Swat a fly, turn on the AC, or, in this case, just fire the coach.
But then what?
At that point, to make any of it work, you also have to have a plan in place for "recovery". Meaning, if you can't pay for the AC, or if you don't remove whatever it is that attracts the flies, then the "relief" piece is just instant gratification, and nothing more. This means that the next coach must be given the resources to realistically raise the results to the desired standard, and then, on top of that, it must be sustainable.
That part of the formula is called "Reform"!
So, for those who want Josh or Coach Lutz fired, or the next coach, whoever & whenever that may be, you've covered the "Relief" aspect of the equation. It will make you feel better that the University did "something". But, in doing so, you haven't addressed the recovery piece, which means we're even further away from addressing the reform aspects.
You can call this position "Homer" all you want. But if you do, and I'm gonna say this VERY clearly, you are 100% wrong, and aren't dealing in reality. And, thus aren't working towards solutions, the ones that would take OSU into the future & beyond in the way we are ALL hoping happens.
Notice I said hoping, because this is a VERY dangerous time in history for OSU.
So, until we get serious about creating systems that address the recovery & reform piece, it won't matter who we hire or fire, because nothing will be sustainable here. We are either going to have a hard time winning in the first place, like men's basketball, or we are going to lose all of our players once they have success, and then they are looking for a paycheck instead of a home. We have seen that in the last day or so with Women's basketball.
So, as per baseball, to get back into that part of the equation. There is 100% a dark cloud hanging over this that is creating an "unnatural" overreaction every time someone in this program farts, and that is not good for anyone involved. And, no question, there are things that, within the program now, that get addressed on this site regularly, that with the resources available, need to, and should be better.
That is what I want to talk about.
What do you think this program, beyond the "This or That Sucks" typical Social Media language, needs? A new hitting coach? A new hitting philosophy? A different style of pitch sequencing? Understand, you need to back your position with more than opinion. For it to get taken seriously, you need to have data to back up your position.
So, what is it, specifically, that you want to see improved? This is a good chance to leave your thoughts, because I promise you, everyone wants this fixed, and if you make sense and are realistic, it will be undeniable.
So, as Les once said, Let 'er Rip! #gopokes #okstate

@Ostate_Daily That’s fair. But we need to find a way to get to Omaha once every 4 years. I don’t think that’s too much to ask.
What’s the answer? I don’t know. But I know the same attempts will yield the same results.
English

If you're trying to say Joe is at a disadvantage, what I'm telling you is that we have outperformed our disadvantages. Last year, a top 32 finish was an outperformance compared to what is being invested in roster construction. And, I'm also telling you I'm not wrong on that.
You can either believe that or not; that's your choice.
English

@Ostate_Daily Billy and Joe are stranded in the desert.
Billy is only 5 feet from the water.
Joe is 100 feet away.
Should Joe just be content to die since Billy has it easier?
Is that what you’re saying?
English

No, not at all, talking out both sides of my mouth. Coach Schlossnagle skipped town as soon as NIL became a factor. Coach Saarloos has taken the brunt of that.
And, again, as the OP said, you'll be very disappointed when comparing the ability of Coastal Carolina to build a roster vs. OSU. I'm not saying it's relative, I'm saying you'll be disappointed head-to-head. Especially considering geography.
English

@Ostate_Daily CC- percentages? Seriously? A waiter contributing X% to his 401(k) won’t have as much as the oil exe.
OreSU - OK. Maybe that’s it. More money. TCU - you’re talking out of both sides of your mouth. Does the HC matter or not? Either way, 5 Omaha trips since JH got to town.
English

Those are 3 very bad examples. Coastal Carolina leads the nation, or is one of, if not the top, in the percentage of overall funds that are designated for baseball. You'd be very disappointed to compare their ability to win vs. ours in any way.
As per Oregon State, the same thing. Baseball is what they have, and will continue to make sure and take care of. I'm not guessing here, I've interviewed both a coach at Oregon State, and a player who were/are in the Dodgers system.
As per TCU, they went 2 and barbeque last year in Regioinals, while OSU was beating Georgia on their home field to make the Regional Finals. And, had a lead going into the 8th of the 1st Championship game. They are currently in 7th place in the Big 12 standings.
In 2024, TCU went 33-21 and 14-16 in the conference. If Josh had come close to the results of TCU in the last 2 years, OSU fans would be losing their minds worse than they are now. Coach Saarloos won with Coach Schloshnagles' players in 2023, then performed worse than Josh in the 2 years after that.

@OKSTBruce @Ostate_Daily Facilities do not help you win. They're are plenty of facilities better than O'Brate.

Kansas and North Carolina open at the same time. This should be fun.

#BREAKING: Kansas head coach Bill Self is retiring, per sources. After 23 years and two national championships with the Jayhawks, the legendary coach has decided to call it a career. One of the hottest jobs in sports is now open.

The final score was not in our favor today. We'll return to Big 12 Conference action Thursday at BYU.

Cael Sanderson used his post-tournament presser to deliver a pointed message.
While he didn’t mention any names, it was directed toward Oklahoma State. He did not like the way a high schooler was pulled from the middle of his senior year in high school & inserted into a college lineup. He’s also unhappy with the Cowboys actively recruiting his past and current players (Ryder, Facundo, Steen, etc.).
Sanderson is also displeased that David Taylor did not mention PSU once during the tournament. While the likes of Tom Ryan & Mark Manning praised them beforehand & congratulated them afterwards.
Cael turns 47 in June. He is in charge of the only dynasty in sport. It is unprecedented. David Taylor turns 36 in December. He is in charge of the school with the most national championships in the history of the sport. He has revived a fan base & their donors. This generation of high schoolers actually remember his gold medal.
This is exactly what the fringe sport of wrestling needs. Rivalries in sports were/are good. Cubs/Cardinals. Yankees/Red Sox. Celtics/Lakers. Flyers/Pens. Steelers/Browns. Michigan/OSU. Cena vs The Rock.
