You’re watching the result of alignment. Talent. Work ethic. Character. @ParisJohnsonJr continues to ascend because the person matches the player. #AMDG

Linebackers don’t stay blocked — You have to make them FEEL & FEAR you. Physicality is a DECISION. #BTD

Striking power, balance, and force production are byproducts of training, not drills. If you want them… EARN them by doing the HARD things, first. #BTD

The position has become Instagram sexy instead of application appropriate Players can mimic movements, but they don’t understand the why, aren’t strong enough, and haven’t trained the mentality needed to apply it in real time. Too many who are “skillful”, but not good players.

Players today have access to more information than an ever. I’ve spent nearly two decades in the OL development space, and one thing hasn’t changed. The game still rewards the same things it always has. Strength. Effort. Competition. Just get back to the work. #AMDG

This coach is taking a lot of heat for this drill - unfairly. I had two offensive line coaches early in my career who ran drills I didn’t fully understand at the time. But there was no social media for them to be critiqued. If it were available, you guys would’ve LIT THEM UP😅. Ironically, they became two of the BEST coaches I ever had because they taught the most important element of offensive line play: Mentality. If people want to have an honest conversation about why offensive line play feels softer today, I’d point to three things: 1. Mentality Too much weight-room theater and “tough guy” performance, but not enough real edge. 2. Over-emphasis on scheme Offenses are playing faster than ever, but linemen are being asked to process more information than ever. When the brain is overloaded, players hesitate. 3. Information without context There are now a lot of “OL trainers” and podcast experts with strong opinions but very little real résumé behind them. Young players have unlimited information — but very little guidance on how to interpret it. Sometimes development isn’t supposed to look perfect on camera. Sometimes the best development happens away from the field and looks more like building a real relationship with the person, and not just the player. Maybe it’s time the entire OL “industry” quiets down a bit and let coaches coach. Because. Offensive line play was really good long before everyone had a microphone. I have many more thoughts on this topic… so maybe I’ll just do a podcast about them 😂🎙️ #AMDG

For many players, the offseason is now overloaded with skill work. There’s a place for pass sets—but this is the phase for real development. Not what looks like work, but what drives it. Strength is still the fastest way to elevate skill. But It’s not “sexy”. It’s hard.

It can get even more challenging when the defender “plays long”, and there isn’t any surface area to grab.

Mike Hallett - OL Med ball stack drill. Simulate zone work without defensive structure. Focus on zones rather than players. Don’t chase color. Full clinic and library inside mushroom-society.com

At the NFL level, TRAIT LIMITATIONS become problems when process breaks down. A 4.2 DB doesn’t need to run faster. An offensive lineman doesn’t NEED longer arms. Traits amplify process — they don’t replace it. Build cleaner decisions and better sequencing. #AMDG

Go through your process, and then play the spot and not the defender. 💪🏾 - Guys like him are easy to develop because of the coaching they’ve received in college - The credit goes to @MichaelSwitzer @CoachBrewster50 @UW_Football - Great job, fellas 🔥

Washington’s Carver Willis was queitly one of the best OL in pass pro on Day 1 of the Senior Bowl. Hand usage is impressive. Replaces hands to stop spin on rep 1 & snatch-and-trap on rep 2.

When we shift thinking away from “technique” and toward “movement”, a C blocking a 0T is similar to a broad jump. How do I propel FORWARD with force? Well, throwing feet backwards isn’t the answer. Pushing the hips back is the answer.
