I was honored to deliver my second research session to medical doctors currently pursuing their residency training programs in Rwanda 🇷🇼. My session focused on “Turning Your Dissertation or Thesis into a Manuscript Ready for Publication,” an important topic aimed at helping young clinicians transform their academic work into publishable scientific contributions. My sincere thanks to Dr. Menelas Nkeshimana and Vivianne Umuhire Niyonkuru from the Ministry of Health Rwanda @RwandaHealth for attending and supporting this session. I also extend my appreciation to NextGen Med Researchers for organizing this impactful program. Special thanks to Dr. Daniel Byiringiro for moderating the session, and to Dr. Faustin Munyaneza for his dedication and efforts in helping make this program a success. It is always a privilege for me to keep contributing to strengthening research capacity and promoting scientific writing and publication skills among the next generation of clinicians and researchers in #Rwanda and beyond.

I had the privilege of delivering the 5th session on Scientific Writing and Referencing. It was a true honor to contribute alongside Professor Adeola Fowotade, who delivered the 4th session on Research Methods, Results & Basic Analysis, and Professor Charles J. Elikwu, who delivered the 6th session on Publishing, Peer Review & Research Visibility. I was especially inspired by the outstanding attendance, thoughtful questions, and strong intellectual engagement from the medical students in #Nigeria. Special thanks to Oluwabukola Ebitigha for the excellent moderation, and to Emmanuel Owolabi and the entire organizing team for their exceptional coordination and professionalism. It was a pleasure to contribute to such a meaningful academic initiative.

Many thanks to MEDSAR Rwanda for inviting me to speak at their Research Bootcamp. 🧠🧠Our latest original research paper published in BMC Neurology is titled: “Prevalence of newly diagnosed hypertension in patients presenting with stroke at the Medical Emergency Department of Rwanda Military Referral and Teaching Hospital: a five-year retrospective study (2020–2025)” Our findings highlight a substantial burden of both diagnosed and previously undiagnosed #hypertension among patients presenting with #stroke in #Rwanda, underscoring the urgent need for improved screening and prevention strategies. We also observed poor adherence to antihypertensive therapy among patients with known hypertension and markedly elevated blood pressure at presentation, reinforcing the importance of early detection, linkage to care, and sustained blood pressure control to reduce stroke burden in Rwanda. #stroke #hypertension #Rwanda #Africa #neurology #doctors #researchers #research #publichealth #globalhealth
