Baba, tech schools are not a scam. Decagon built talents.
Semicolon built people.
Utiva built some of the founders you see today. I started @grazacng in Abeokuta in 2020 and we have trained hundreds of talents. Some have gone on to work with global companies today, some are leading engineering teams, and some are building their own startups. Yes, there might be tech schools teaching scrap, but coming to the overall conclusion that tech schools are a scam makes no sense. Iyin, who has built two unicorns in Africa, is currently running another tech school, Learn to Earn. At the very beginning of building a tech career, not everyone has what it takes to self-learn and grow, which makes it essential for us to have tech schools. We can’t take away the bedrock and foundation of why we have new innovations in Nigeria today. Without talents, there is no innovation. What has to be done is removing mediocrity and training young people with soft skills combined with tech skills. There has to be a standard so people don’t just come up produce half baked talents. You can’t see any talent from @grazacng who doesn’t understand problem-solving and how to think clearly.
