Whilst the potato is the most wasted food at home, it’s second to sugar beet on farm #foodwaste. In total, 1.6m tonnes of #foodwaste occurs on UK farms, and 2m tonnes of surplus food arises. The combined value of all this food is more than £1 billion. #Farm24 @FarmersGuardian

Ethylene is a chemical released by produce to start the ripening process. However, it can also cause products to have a shorter shelf life and eventually be wasted. By controlling ethylene, shelf life can be extended.

You may be able to check your temperature to see if you have a cold, but sadly that doesn't apply to fresh produce. However, integrating temperature data with spectroscopy data can help to predict shelf life and understand how long something will be fresh for!
