The most basic principle of the founding of this nation, that to be revered above all others, is that “the people”, the whole of “ the people”, shall determine the course of the nation. The Republic was never designed to have a limited few, those selected from a political class, a de facto aristocracy, where individuals enrich themselves and their progeny at the public trough, at the expense of their constituency, make decisions for their own benefit, or that of their party, or their ideology, and subvert the general welfare of “the people”. or supplant the will of the those they were entrusted to serve.

@krassenstein You forgot a nuclear armed Iran, Brian. That kinda overshadows everything else. Having grown up in Cold War times I understand what that means. So do a lot of others. Youthful ignorance is not bliss in this case.

IF TRUMP DIDN’T TEAR UP OBAMA’S IRAN NUCLEAR AGREEMENT. We’d have: - $ 40 billion more - 300+ fewer injured Americans - Over a dozen fewer dead Americans - $2.49 gasoline - 0 U.S. bases severely damaged - Iran’s Uranium capped - The world a safer place - A less extreme Supreme Leader in Iran.

Really, the first President in 47 years to hold Iran accountable, and you think he needs to man up. This is how we prevent world wars, Brian. We stop the threat before it manifests its desired destruction. Had we done this in 1939, it would have saved millions of lives and countless dollars in destruction. The reaction from Europe is very Chamberlain like. I guess some do not learn the lessons of history.

If you want to stop the nonsense, just enforce the law. If you throw bricks at cops, go to jail. If you shoot fireworks at officers, go to jail. If you block a street and prevent free movement of individuals, go to jail. If you register people to vote who are not legally allowed to vote, go to jail. If you interfere with law enforcement operations, go to jail. If you threaten people on the street, go to jail. If you damage property, go to jail. If you steal, go to jail. If you trespass on private property, go to jail. If you commit assault, go to jail. If you intentionally fund individuals who are doing any of these things, go to jail. If you knowingly coordinate events where these things happen, go to jail. Why are we accepting any of these things on the streets of our nation?

@EdKrassen Nobody on the right is really worried about it. It’s theater, with paid actors a script and a director behind the scenes calling the shots. Everyone knows it. And nobody cares.

Amazing No Kings protest in Nashville Tennessee yesterday. The marchers were led by women dressed up as handmaids from “The Handmaids Tale.” Each of them was holding a sign with a name of one of the people named in the Epstein files on it. MAGA hates this.

Remember when the early warning system went off in Hawaii? A missile strike was considered imminent. It was an inadvertent error by a systems operator. But, what if it wasn’t? That is the reason for this military action in Iran. To make sure it is never more than a drill or false alarm. You should check with your constituents before making such false, reckless and callous statements. You are on the wrong side of history on this one.

Trump is choosing to spend BILLIONS of YOUR taxpayer dollars to fund his reckless and illegal war in Iran when that money could be going to help you afford health care, fund our schools, expand housing, support childcare... Irresponsible, reckless, and callous.

ICE is a law enforcement agency. They enforce laws placed in the US Code by our elected representatives. To enforce those laws it does require arresting holding those accountable who violated them. If warranted, individuals are then removed from the country. These are the laws you swore to uphold as a public servant. It is that straight forward.

@krassenstein Everyone benefits, we just took the lead. Nuclear weapons, even as a distant possibility, needed to be addressed. It is folly to wait until a loaded weapon is pointed at you before you decide you have a problem.

Americans show ID millions of times per day for common everyday tasks. A vote in an American election is a solemn responsibility reserved for citizens of this nation. It is a right to be revered and protected. The fact that either you do not understand that, or, choose to look the other way for political reasons, speaks volumes.

First, Trump wanted to redraw districts to favor Republicans. Then he wanted to cancel mail-in ballots. Now, he wants to pass the SAVE Trump Act — a bill that makes it HARDER for you to register to vote. Are you noticing a pattern? They want to steal our upcoming elections.

Funny, doing the hard things, standing for that which is true and just, regardless of public opinion, would appear to be exactly the type of leadership that I expect from my public servants. If we had taken such action in 1939, the world would never have suffered the level of carnage it did during WWII. Given the potential of similar loss of life with nuclear weapons, the actions in Iran are warranted. Inviting others, who will ultimately benefit from these actions, to assist, would seem to be reasonable. Doing nothing was not an option.

Interesting points. I guess you do not drown in debt if you pass quietly while waiting for treatment. We’ve all heard the stories. Social support, universal healthcare and free higher education are priorities of socialist movements as carrots to the population to accept lower incomes, higher taxes and less freedom than other nations. Education and indoctrination are two different things. You then move highlighting the benefits of not having a pesky Constitution protecting the rights of individuals who have been accused of acts and not convicted. Nobody wants to protect pedophiles, trust me. But innocent until proven guilty is a pillar of our system. And, if that is what separates us as individuals, I’ll take my side of the border any day.

Why is Canada better than America? People don’t go bankrupt if they get sick. Life expectancy is higher. Better social support. Universal healthcare. Pedophiles aren’t defended here. People are more educated. Lower obesity rates. More human rights. A pedophile has never won an election.

@EdKrassen Or because Democrats were stomping their feet and throwing a tantrum because they don’t want to vote for anything that will benefit the American people and not provide avenues for corruption and waste? I guess it depends on your perspective.

Senator, you do not get to throw the gates open, allow anyone who walks through to remain, fail to defectively vet anyone, and then ignore the effects of those decisions. The actions of the prior administration were reckless and dangerous. We must now be pragmatic and address the implications of those actions. After the events of the past ten days, that should be clear to everyone. Words matter. I noticed you did not say the Senator was wrong. Just that it offended you.
