Winter weather alerts have been issued for our incoming Wednesday 4/1-Thursday 4/2 system. More areas will likely be added, especially with the risk of icing in southeastern parts of our area. There's another similar system moving our way for Friday!

It's not often there's a temperature drop of 40-50 degrees from one afternoon to the next but we've just experienced that between Wednesday 3/25 and Thursday 3/26!

After some record and near-record warmth on Wednesday 3/25, big changes on the way for Thursday the 26th!

New record high temperatures were set today in Sioux Falls and Sioux City! Sioux Falls reached 89°F while Sioux City reached 95°F! This is Sioux Falls and Sioux City's warmest temperature ever recorded for the month of March.

🚨 New Record!🚨 As of 130pm, we've broken the high temperature record in Sioux Falls with a temperature of 74 degrees. We'll still have a few more hours of heating to go, and will have the final value at 530pm. The previous record was 73 degrees set in 1911, 2015, 2022.

Climate Prediction Center has released its preliminary monthly outlook for April. An updated one will be issued on March 31.

Much of the snow that fell this weekend has melted away by Wednesday morning and a LOT more disappeared Wednesday afternoon. This bodes well for our huge warm-up over the next few days.

This is a list of some of the higher snowfall totals we've received from the weekend. There's also a regional view showing the change in snow cover between Friday 3/13 and today 3/16. We're going to lose that snow cover very soon!

Updated winter weather alerts map as of 9:45pm 3/13. The BLIZZARD WARNING has been expanded a little farther to the south to just north of I-90.

UPDATE: The National Weather Service has now put the entire eastern half of South Dakota under blizzard warnings which will go into effect for some late tonight and others early Sunday Morning and go until Monday morning. Please be weather aware tonight!

Here's an updated St. Patrick's Day parade weather forecast. We've taken out the precipitation chances (that'll come later in the day) but it will be cool and breezy.

A VERY impactful winter storm is moving our way this weekend with heavy snow and wind likely. The heaviest snow looks to be just north of Interstate 90. Stay tuned as we fine-tune the forecast!

We've been posting about a potential winter storm for this weekend 3/14-15 but it looks like a warmer and drier pattern will be settling in after that!
