Statement from Luka Doncic’s agent Bill Duffy of WME Basketball: "This season, Luka Dončić has performed at a historic level, leading the league in scoring, carrying the Lakers to third place in the Western Conference and placing himself in the middle of one of the most tightly contested MVP races in memory. To ensure that Luka’s incredible accomplishments this season are rightly honored and he can be considered for the league’s end-of-season awards, we intend to apply for an “Extraordinary Circumstances Challenge” to the 65-game rule. Luka missed two games this season for the birth of his second child in Slovenia. His daughter was born on Dec. 4 on another continent, and yet he was back in the United States competing with his team on Dec. 6. Luka has gone to great lengths to show up for his team and this league this season. His record-breaking season deserves to be noted in the history books, despite last night’s unfortunate injury and other extraordinary circumstances. We look forward to working with the NBAPA and the league office to ensure a fair outcome in this matter."

Los Angeles Lakers star Luka Doncic is out indefinitely due to a left hamstring injury, sources tell me and @mcten. He will miss the remainder of the regular season and his status is uncertain beyond that.

Calling A high in a $114,400 pot It's been a while since I broke down an interesting hand history, so with with the CGWC for HU on Coinpoker around the corner, here's one of the most interesting hands that I played last year versus @harrington25 So to set the stage for this hand, this was around the time that legendary poker player "Theblez" seemingly came back out of nowhere and started taking on the best in the world on Coin. When you are faced with a player like him, it's important you are able to deviate from what you've been learning in the solver and you go back to the good old days where you figure hands out as you play them. We're playing $300/$600 and open AQ53sss at 186bbs effective. We face a 3-bet (at a higher frequency than normal) so we make a very standard call and see 9s6d2s roll off on the flop. The player that is 3-betting can c-bet quite liberally as he's holding a lot of double suited hands. We flat the c-bet and head to the turn. When the deuce rolls off on the turn we are faced with a bet that's slightly less than 50% of the pot, our hand seems a bit marginal here, but against normal ranges folding is out of the question here so folding vs "Theblez" is a big no no. In position is surely holding more 99, 66 and deuces, so I decide to put the pressure back on and raise with this combo. Calling would've been fine too, but balancing raises and calls in spots like these are what can be the difference between a decent and elite player. We go to the river and the third deuce rolls off. We're repping 99/66/2 on the turn, but face a $27,000 bet on the river. This deuce drastically reduces the odds of me having one in my hand and gives my opponent a full house if he has an overpair in his hand, that's something "Theblez" quickly realizes. Before diving into the technicalities of this hand, my gut is screaming that something is wrong here. With this kind of size on the river, my opponent is technically allowed to bluff 23,6% of the time. I quickly try to put my opponent on a hand and I'm looking for these things: 1. Am I blocking the value range of my opponent (we are since we block AA/QQ, KK could very much be possible) 2. Are we unblocking bluffs (not really with 3 spades in our hand, but would our opponent lead when holding spades, if not, it could be a good thing) A combo like 987 would make a lot of sense and I flick in $27,000 after some thinking and I collect a nearly 200bb pot with AQ high. Soon thereafter I get a call from my opponent who states "that's the sickest call I've ever seen, you should not have called, as you lost your action against me now". We laugh it off and it took 24 hours before we had another session. HU is the purest form of poker and in two weeks Coin will give it the stage it deserves. Some of the best HU players and me will compete in a tournament to determine who's the strongest 1 v 1 player, with $50,000 and a rolex up top. Watch us play from the sidelines or jump in yourself!
