A friend introduced me to @goldfishggbr and honestly, it’s simpler than it sounds.
Let me break it down with a video and a SUPER SIMPLE EXPLANATION 🧵👇
GOLDFISH: TOKENIZED GOLD (SUPER SIMPLE EXPLANATION)
1️⃣ What is “Tokenized Gold”?
Think of real gold sitting in a vault somewhere.
Now imagine instead of carrying the gold physically, you get a digital token that proves you own a small piece of that gold.
That digital proof lives on the blockchain.
So:
🟡 Real gold exists in storage
📱 You hold a digital version of it online
Each token = a small amount of real gold
That’s tokenized gold.
2️⃣ What is Goldfish Doing?
Goldfish created a digital token called GGBR.
Each GGBR token represents:
1/1000th of a troy ounce of gold (priced using official market gold prices).
So if gold goes up in price, GGBR goes up too.
If gold drops, GGBR drops too.
It simply follows gold.
3️⃣ What Goldfish Is NOT
They are making it clear that:
❌ It is NOT a yield product (you don’t earn interest automatically)
❌ It is NOT a DeFi protocol (it’s not some complex lending platform)
✅ It is mainly the system that issues and proves the gold backing
So their focus is:
👉 “We just provide properly backed digital gold. Nothing fancy.”
4️⃣ What is 5:1 Over-Collateralization? (Very Important)
This sounds scary but it’s simple.
It means:
For every $1 worth of token issued,
They hold $5 worth of gold backing it.
So they hold more gold than needed.
Why?
Makes it safer
Protects against price swings
Builds trust
It’s like a bank keeping way more money than customers deposited which translates to extra security.
5️⃣ “Gold, Not a Dollar Proxy”
Most stablecoins like:
$USDT
$USDC
are pegged to the US dollar.
That means they depend on:
💠US economy
💠US monetary policy
💠US inflation
But $GGBR is pegged to gold, not USD.
So instead of following US dollars,
It follows gold’s value.
Gold is considered:
A “hard asset”
Not controlled by one government
Historically stable long term
So they’re saying:
“We’re giving crypto a gold base instead of a dollar base.”
6️⃣ Why Does Circulation Matter?
They want $GGBR to be used everywhere:
On exchanges
In trading
In lending platforms
In financial products
Because a stable asset is useless if nobody uses it.
Money only becomes powerful when it moves.

Traditional gold has problems:

Hard to divide
