Lewis Award (Houston area) is not selected by one single coach or school. Here’s how it actually works: 🏆 WHO SELECTS THE GUY V. LEWIS AWARD The winner is chosen by the Greater Houston Basketball Coaches Association 👉 That’s the key group. WHAT THAT MEANS (REAL TALK)    •   It’s a coaches-driven vote    •   Members are high school basketball coaches in the Houston area    •   Typically includes:       •   Public (UIL) coaches       •   Private school coaches       •   Long-time respected voices in the Houston basketball community They evaluate:    •   Production (stats matter, but not everything)    •   Team success    •   Impact on winning    •   Reputation within the coaching circle    •   Consistency over the season HOW PLAYERS ACTUALLY GET ON THAT BOARD This isn’t a “send film and win” type award. Players get traction through:    •   Coaches talking (this matters more than people admit)    •   Deep playoff runs    •   Consistent production vs real competition    •   Visibility in Houston circles (events, matchups, district play)

On this week's @ParkerUniv Behind The Player, @PlandHoops Guard @Bibbs2_ shared some of his favorite things on and off the court.

A big part of @PlandHoops' 30-4 season was senior @Bibbs2_. The wiry, athletic guard had a knack for delivering in the crunch and often with a highlight reel dunk. Whether finishing above the rim or from behind the arc, Bibbs made the plays that helped the Oilers capture the 22-6A title. His college future is still taking shape. But whoever signs this playmaking guard is getting a difference maker. Byron Bibbs is our @ParkerUniv MVP.

Another award displaying the versatile skillset of the unsigned senior. The senior had a consistently good playoff stat line recently, contributing to the box score in every way possible. He can shoot the long ball, finish inside; and defend any position. @DevanBrown2026
