Has anyone used the Grammarsaurus Place Value of Punctuation and Grammar units? I’m thinking of purchasing but would love to hear from someone who uses it!

Looking for #Audible book recommendations for Year 3 children. I’m cancelling my audible subscription but have 6 credits to use before I do. Need to spend them this weekend before I get charged again! Please help! Thanks in advance! #primary #teacher

@GMB Yet again the dept for education making things up without any clue of the logistics of how a school works because, other than guided tours for the cameras, most of them have never been to a primary school since they left age 11.

@GMB This is two separate questions. ‘Should teachers teach children how to brush their teeth? We do in HRE lessons. ‘Should teaching staff supervise children brushing their teeth daily?’ Absolutely not. 1 classroom sink, 35 children, 2 minutes per child. Won’t work.

Good Morning Britain
School and nursery staff in the most deprived areas of England will be asked to supervise young children while they brush their teeth, under a national toothbrushing programme launched by the government. Should teachers teach children how to brush their teeth?

The answer is yes, what’s the point in even discussing it when it will make zero difference. Until things fundamentally change at the top, the profession will continue to decline.

@SlatteryMr This was me. I decided to bin all my socks that I couldn’t pair or were wearing thin continuously for 3-4 months as I wore them. Now I only have three types of socks. All black socks from Next. White Sports socks (yet to diversify to one brand) Ankle socks. So much easier

This is the pile of socks - this has been the pile of socks for atleast nine months where we’ve ignored the pile and simply searched for a pair when ever we needed some. And then when we washed more we added to the pile. I am now going to tackle the pile so I can get my life back

@_MrLevick @BenisonMrs Do they need to know that? When would anyone ever actually need to know that? I’m 32, taught for 11 years and other than in school I’ve never, ever needed to know that.

@BenisonMrs But it simply isn’t appropriate ? In the above sentence ‘is’ functions as a verb and leaners need to know that!!

A few weeks ago I was ill, firstly with an upset stomach then I had a cold that wasn’t a cold but I lost my voice. Ever since then my beer hasn’t quite tasted the same.Could it have been covid you think? We’re talking a month later and I’m not getting the same love for my drink

@MardyMariner98 @HeyMissSmith I have only used it on a recent NPQ I’ve enrolled on. There does seem a lot of tasks but I think that is the course rather than the software. Before this I wasn’t aware of the software so can’t comment further.

@Primary_Joe @HeyMissSmith Each other own but they will come. It’s clunky, laborious and the one size fits all approach it uses is dangerous. Not to mention the sheer volume of tasks it expects you to get through, lie there isn’t enough to do…

@MardyMariner98 @HeyMissSmith To be honest I’ve only just begun using it but I have found it to be excellent so far. I’ve not experienced any of these keep going or emojis. Maybe it depends what course you’re doing?

@HeyMissSmith No point being polite, bloody awful and the patronising ‘keep going’ and ‘remember to do the pointless tasks’ messages with kid like emojis

Seeing teachers lament an 8 week term saying it’s too much. It isn’t. The real issue is the school day. Decompress the school day and the levels of fatigue that set in over the weeks will be a fraction of what it is now.

@DeputyGrocott Also vastly depends on school, parents, type of homework etc. If you’re at a school where children generally receive little support at home or have many EAL parents, is a child doing their homework at After school club or breakfast club beneficial?

I’m a fan of research, of course. But these type of headlines can be a bit deceiving if I’m reading it correctly. 5+ months progress looks great but the security of the evidence is rated low (43 studies and lastly conducted in 2021). Just have to be a bit careful.
