Great to see the industry catch up on the reality of too many women facing poverty in retirement, our prediction … it equally affect anyone who is single, renting, and with low superannuation balances. The problem is gendered and generational.

Okay to save time - negative gearing is examined by every government. It is a major tax concession and always contentious and so it is always looked at - what does it cost? What would particular changes mean in terms of revenue and housing affordability. Under this budget a nurse will pay more tax than one third of big corporations in Australia. If that nurse is a renter, they may never be able to buy a home because they'll be competing with investors with massive tax handouts from this budget.
That is desperately unfair.
