A 10-year-girl in Delaware picked up “It’s Perfectly Normal” while at the library with her mother. When they came home, she showed her mom the chapter on sexual abuse and said, “This is me.” She was being abused by her father, and it was the first time she’d spoken about it.

When abortion is banned in the South or Midwest or Appalachia people genes to shrug their shoulders, thinking folks can just fly or drive to the closest state where abortion is legal. But sometimes they can’t. Sometimes people are forced to stay pregnant.

Yesterday while driving & listening to the book "When Abortion was a Crime," I was suddenly struck by a familiar story, one my mom told me years ago about a young lady who lived in her dorm who died of illegal abortion. The highlighted text is exactly what my mom had told me. 1/
