I am very excited to share that my team and I have moved to @RiceUniversity. We are extremely grateful for the continuous support from the students, faculty, staff, funding agencies and companies, program officers, collaborators, mentors, and friends worldwide. Thank you, University of Utah's students, faculty, and staff, for supporting my journey from an Assistant Professor in 2018 to my promotion to Associate Professor with tenure at the U in 2024. I am incredibly fortunate to have the support of my team members, who have followed me on this journey to Rice. They have gone above and beyond to successfully transplant our lab, over 1484 miles, in two weeks. Thank you also to The People at Rice for their warm welcome and incredible support for our team during the transitions. We asked ChatGPT to read 8000 paper abstracts and establish a database for magnetocaloric materials, which we then used to train a machine learning model to predict new magnetocaloric materials. With this approach we discovered 11 new materials, including one with the best performance for hydrogen liquefaction temperature: pubs.aip.org/aip/adv/articl…

Great job by @Fayeyap25 defending her PhD thesis in @RiceMECH! Her work applied reaction kinetics to understand virus inactivation, elastomer curing, and manufacturing of soft robots, and she will start her own lab as a faculty member at @uhmanoa in January.
