I have received with deep sorrow the news of the passing of one of Kenya’s indefatigable human rights and social justice champions, Mr. Mugambi Kiai. Mugambi will be remembered as a passionate, principled, and thoughtful leader and patriot who played a consequential role in the struggle for democracy and good governance in Kenya. A lawyer by training and a journalist by calling, Mugambi devoted nearly three decades to advancing human rights, the rule of law, justice, and democracy in Kenya and across the region. His courage, clarity of thought, and unwavering commitment to constitutionalism leave an enduring legacy. He will be remembered for his contribution in the struggle for the birth, implementation, and protection of the Constitution of Kenya 2010. As the Regional Director for Eastern Africa at Article 19, he stood firmly for freedom of expression, free media, public accountability, and democratic governance until his last day. We extend our heartfelt condolences to his family, friends, and all those whose lives he touched. May his soul rest in eternal peace. And may his legacy continue to inspire new generations of patriots and servant leaders @Maina_Kiai

Currently ODM has two groups: ODM A of @edwinsifuna @WinnieOdiinga @HEBabuowinopres @orengo_james and others and ODM B of @dr_oburuoginga @HassanAliJoho @DrOparanya @JunetMohamed and others. These are pro-people reformers and pro-establishment forces. May Baba’s Spirit prevail.

We interrupt normal programming to wish our Team Leader @AAgather many happy returns of the day. You inspire us every single day!

Since Kenyan leaders want to benchmark Kenya against Singapore it is good to remember that Singapore itself did not benchmark itself against a single country. As a small city state it borrowed from Israel realism, British institutions including rule of law and creation of a professional and politically neutral civil service . It also borrowed from the Japanese economic discipline, Swiss integrity, Dutch efficiency in port management among others and of course American openness. So Kenya needs to understand that it may need to learn from many different countries. What do you think?
