From May 13 to 16, 2024, engineering students from the @ESSAForets undertook a field internship in Fianarantsoa, hosted by our industrial partner Les Scieries du Betsileo. This internship, aimed to enhance the students' understanding of artificial forests sustainable management.

Five academics from @ESSAForets, CNFTF, and IST-T participated in a secondment program at @tropicalwood_mg Ivato, as part of the #hepssa @ProjectForestia project to deepen their knowledge of #CNC machining and to enhance the CAD/CAM and wood machining curriculum. @RAEngNews

The 2nd seminar in collaboration with @OpenSystemsLab and @EdinburghUni was held yesterday. The WikiHouse construction system attracted enthusiastic involvement from students at @ESSAForets and #ISTT. @TReynoldsUni @ClaytonPrest @GabrieleGranel3 @RAEngGlobal

These practices differ from traditional methods in the orientation of the grindstone to the prevailing wind, ignition opening opposite to the wind, the positioning of vents, and the stacking of the wood. Improved techniques enable a twofold increase in carbonization yield.

@ESSAForets students received training on eucalypts improved carbonization techniques developed within the DIABE project. This two-day training provided the students with valuable insights and knowledge on the socio-economic issues related to the charcoal and wood energy sector.
