@TheStingisBack It took me about 30 years to finally know there that quote, once heard in a Guns 'n Roses song, originated. Totally worth the wait. It has been one of my favourites ever since. I didn't eat that many eggs for a while, though.

@TheStingisBack Very true. I remember this movie getting panned left and right, especially Stallone's acting. I thought he did a terrific job amidst those high caliber actors like Harvey Keitel, Ray Liotta and Robert DeNiro. I also loved the premise and plot a lot. It was a fine movie.

@HanClanSolo77 @ThinkerAtLarge @BillHuntBits Oh, sure, it could have gotten the Award and there would be no argument from me. A great movie and one of Tom Hanks' best performances. I guess it isn't allowed but it would have been funny if both scores were nominated and Horner had competed with himself.

@ProjectPaladin @ThinkerAtLarge @BillHuntBits Love the score. Don’t disagree with that.
Apollo 13 should have had best picture. Hands down

BRAVEHEART doesn’t get nearly the love it deserves.

“I know you can fight. But it’s our wits that make us men.”
English

@HanClanSolo77 @ThinkerAtLarge @BillHuntBits Nah, we're in disagreement there. The story is a classic Hollywood epic, Gibson's directing was great. It ahould also have won Best Music. This was one of James Horner's best ones, simply stellar. No dis on Luis Bacalov and Il Postino, who ultimately won.
English

@ProjectPaladin @ThinkerAtLarge @BillHuntBits Easy to swallow for some but I don’t event think it’s that well made as a whole. Good for audiences. Not good enough for awards.
English

@ThinkerAtLarge @HanClanSolo77 @BillHuntBits ...matter. For some, authenticity is the most important in historic story-telling and I agree just look at HBO's Rome. This feeling has never been matched. However, it is not always the most important thing, like in Braveheart. Most people just didn't know or didn't care.
English

@ThinkerAtLarge @HanClanSolo77 @BillHuntBits Generally, yes, but not necessarily. It depends on more factors than authenticity or accuracy. It is dependent on the audience. Most audiences never had experiences with Scottish history, but they knew kilts, English monarchs are bad and Mel Gibson is good. The rest didn't...

@TheStingisBack There are a hundred versions of The Office from around the world. But there's nothing like the german show "Stromberg".
However, when it comes to English-speaking shows, there's none like John Cleese's "Fawlty Towers:

@HanClanSolo77 @BillHuntBits Nah, not necessarily. See Gladiator for reference. There might be a point, where it goes to far for the average audience member, but Braveheart certainly didn't break that immersion. Movies should always be movies first, meaning the story-telling comes first.
English

@BillHuntBits If you’re giving it best picture it needs to do better on authenticity. History you can mess with a bit. But not authenticity

@TheStingisBack Is this the 2025 one? If so it's ok, but there are better adaptations.

@TheDailyShow Hey,America... guess who's fault that is... dick!
English

@RealEmirHan "Invasion" has a great intro, foreboding and hyping up a scenario, the show unfortunately can never quite deliver. But man, that intro piece of music alone...

@CaptKirkJamesT The designs are all fine, but there is something special about the TOS-movie-era refit.

@TheFilmScorer Oh wait, I didn't put the "I guess" in it. I wanted to but didn't because of the character limit. Memory is a funny thing. Still, the core is astonishingly similar.
English

@TheFilmScorer I mean, even with the "I guess" in it... that feels so surreal. I mean it could just be a coincidence, probably is. But man... only, I didn't have much to say about Sinners. So, yeah, maybe somebody in Hollywood is my soul mate. Would love to know, whose comment that was.

This voter really nails Greenwood’s score for One Battle After Another - I’ve had a lot of people tell me they found it pretty exhausting (and sometimes even too much so during the film)

@TheStingisBack I never was that much of a Norris Gan, but one of my favorite movies is Line Wolf McQuade. Maybe it's nostalgia because I watched it as a kid and was terrified by David Carradine crushing L. Q. Jones' character's throat. But Chuck really shined (shone?) in that movie.
