becoming a meme can help spread a message, build a brand or get your products sold. we’ve seen this recently with @McDonalds when their ceo did a terrible job at promoting their new “product” and it went viral resulting in hyper awareness of that burger when every other brand copied it. crocs were the ultimate meme with their hideous shoes but they leant into it by making them more ugly with collabs to become almost a $5B business today. now we’re watching a senator interview an ai as if it were a human and that looks obscene and feels obscene. i’m not sure if he’s fully aware of how stupid it looks (though i assume he does). but with everyone sharing it and poking fun at it, it leads to more people actually watching it because of the absurdity of it (including me) and all of a sudden you’re hearing a damning message of ai, from ai itself. which was a great way to get the point across. so when something becomes a meme, as a brand or creator, sometimes the best strategy is doing something so random/absurd that it has the potential to get shared or when you become a meme, leaning into it. not to mention the amount of meme templates this has from scene to scene, thanks bernie 👌

I spoke to Anthropic’s AI agent Claude about AI collecting massive amounts of personal data and how that information is being used to violate our privacy rights. What an AI agent says about the dangers of AI is shocking and should wake us up.

I believe Europe is really going to come alive with this. Hugely important step this one. I’m giggling at how excited I am knowing the immense pool of talent we got here.
Marcel van Oost@oost_marcel

🚨𝘽𝙍𝙀𝘼𝙆𝙄𝙉𝙂: European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen unveiled EU–INC, a new framework that lets you launch a company in 48 hours for under €100 Starting a company across the EU today = 27 legal systems, 60+ company structures 🤯 That might be about to change… The European Commission just introduced 𝗘𝗨 𝗜𝗻𝗰., a new optional corporate framework designed to make Europe actually function like one market. Here’s what stands out: → Set up a company in 48 hours → Cost: < €100 → Fully online, no minimum capital → One single framework across all EU countries → Easier share transfers & fundraising → EU-wide employee stock options (huge for talent) Especially the EU-wide stock option plans, taxed only when employees actually sell (instead of when granted) is huge. This makes it far easier for startups to attract and retain top talent, finally putting Europe closer to the US playbook. Source/More info: ec.europa.eu/commission/pre… In short: This is Europe trying to compete with the simplicity of a Delaware C-Corp 🇺🇸 And honestly… it’s long overdue. For years, European founders had 2 choices: 1. Stay local and deal with fragmentation 2. Move to the US to scale 𝗘𝗨 𝗜𝗻𝗰. is trying to remove that trade-off. If executed well, this could be one of the most important structural changes for European startups in decades. What do you think?

content strategy mistakes are killing your growth on CT: - chasing trends 3 days too late - posting without engaging with others first - never showing your personality or takes - never supporting small accounts - never tweeting feet pics - never gooning how many are you doing?

marketers who cling to their own biases instead of listening to their audience are setting themselves up to fail. what you think doesn’t matter instead what your audience believes, values, and responds to does. stay curious, be willing to listen and let the data guide you.

love a devil’s advocate. and can’t say that i disagree because its true what you say and experience gets you a lot more than just technical ability. i was purposefully being one dimensional towards the technical ability side but always important to consider other factors so glad you wrote this.

i'm going to play devil's advocate a bit 👀 in terms of technical ability, i totally agree with you — i've seen marketers who have been in industry for 6/7/8 years and not perform as well as someone with 2-3 years experience. however — what those extra years really buy you is pattern recognition under pressure. someone who’s been through multiple product launches, token volatility cycles, regulatory scares, or community backlash moments has a kind of “muscle memory” for chaos, and thus how to react to it. they’ve seen how narratives form, how fast sentiment shifts, and which levers actually calm things down versus inflame them — and in crisis comms especially, it’s often about knowing when to slow things down, align internally, control the message cadence, and avoid making a bad situation worse. you could also argue that the role isn't just about operating / managing socials. stakeholder management is something that is incredibly important and most who are on the lower end of the experience graph wouldn't be as capable with it. not to say that there won't be some who "just get it", but imo, that judgment is pretty difficult to shortcut, and does come with years of experience.

years of experience don’t mean much. i’ve seen people with a decade in social who are still bang average and i work with an smm who has 1.5 years and is already better than most of the industry. skill comes from how fast you’re willing to fail, learn, and iterate. the people who improve the quickest are the ones who aren’t scared to look stupid on the way up.

consistency alone never guarantees growth and anyone who says as such is not being truthful. but being consistent with wha you said plus: - posting the right content for your audience - being social - having a consistent voice/values/advice is what people should talk about when it comes to consistency.

“Just be consistent” is the worst advice i’ve ever heard. i’ve seen someone post every single day for months. result: 246 followers, although the content was consistent. it was also consistently ignored. because they never: > change their hooks > tested different formats > looked at what actually worked consistency doesn’t = growth, it’s just a routine.

@FoxyhitsW take both, outsource both. reinvest the profits into rental properties. buy a further 9 rental properties via a overlveraged loan on the first property. because if you don’t have 10 rental properties before you’re 30, what are you even doing with your life.
