It's immensely satisfying when something that you have been thinking about for eight years gets finished - thanks to two outstanding @TCD_physics @QuSysTCD students Laetitia and Artur - the story of Information Geometry of NESS to NESS transitions is out: arxiv.org/abs/2501.08858

In todays preprint we uncover universal thermodynamic scaling in dissipative quantum phase transitions arxiv.org/abs/2512.05074 . Using information geometry we show that the nonadiabatic entropy production scales universally with quench time

Our latest work is finally out - unifying many seemingly disparate instances of the notorious Mpemba effect in classical and quantum dynamics such as symmetry restoration and thermalisation using a resource theoretical approach: read here: arxiv.org/abs/2507.16976

The latest work from @QuSysTCD @tcddublin. Great work by postdoc Sam Jacob who derived Kubo formulae without time dep classical driving but rather autonomously by another quantum particle. A generalised FDT appears outside of linear response read here arxiv.org/abs/2505.03686

Science without the gobbledygook
All You Ever Wanted to Know About Quantum Error Correction In a brief yet thorough summary that appeared last week on the pre-print server, a group of quantum computing experts discussed the challenges on the way to commercially relevant quantum computers. Among other things, they confirm that speedups from quantum computers can reliably be expected for certain problems but that quantum error correction still has a long way to go to scale with platform size.

I really like this perspective paper that provides some (as neutral as possible) consensus on timely questions in the field of quantum computing, as well as debunking myths. We need more of this. Thanks for the initiative!
Zoltán Zimborás@ZoltanZimboras

To reach some consensus about the prospects of near-term (nisq and early ft) quantum computing, we had a 3-day discussion event (“Quantum Now”) in Lapland with both optimists and pessimists. This continued at SeeQA 2024 in Oxford. See our conclusions here arxiv.org/abs/2501.05694

We had fun arguing about the prospects of near-term quantum computing in Lapland/Oxford In arxiv.org/abs/2501.05694 we frame our (reasonably converged) conclusions around common 'myths' concerning error mitigation, VQAs and resource estimates. Feedback/discussion welcomed!
