April is Alcohol Awareness Month. Left side: yellow eyes, puffy face, drinking to get through the day, telling myself I had it under control. Right side: almost four years sober, down 100 lbs, clear headed, actually present for my family. I didn't think I had a problem because I wasn't hitting rock bottom the way you see in movies. I was functioning. Working. Raising kids. But I was numbing my way through life and calling it normal. Sobriety didn't just change how I look. It changed how I show up. For my kids. For my husband. For myself. I got my faith back. I got my health back. I got me back. If you're reading this and wondering if you need to quit, that question alone might be your answer.
