She left work early and drove four hours straight just to make it before the shelter closed. The very next day… she was there. When they went to get Sandy from her kennel, she was lying on her bed… quiet, sad, and as if she had given up. But the moment she walked into the bonding room and saw Beth… it was like a light switched back on. NEW: A giant tortoise that was struggling to walk due to weak hind legs has been fitted with custom wheels. The tortoise, living at a private zoo, had severe weakness in its back legs, likely from a fight with other tortoises. Vets ran X-rays (no fractures found), tried laser therapy for inflammation, and then attached small wheels to the bottom of its shell to support its weight and let it move freely. The wheels were later removed once it regained strength and it’s back to walking normally. Clever.
