The world has lost the great Dr. Joel Oppenheim. Dr. Oppenheim was the former Dean for Biomedical Sciences at @nyugrossman (1994-2014), and a giant that worked tirelessly to increase #diversity in graduate education across the US and at @NYU and @nyugrossman. I remember meeting him at the University of Puerto Rico-Mayaguez ~1999 and then working with him when I started my lab at NYU. He was a friend, a colleague, and a strong supporter of my career. Even when I left @nyugrossman to start at St. Jude he was still in my corner; a note from Joel on 08/03/2023 “All my best for your continued academic and career success. You certainly have come a long way since I meet you as a freshman at UPR!” Rest in peace my friend!
