Year 9 French-History Trip: Day three - Memorial service for RGS Old Boy and VC recipient, Frederick Youens, Hill 60, Passchendaele Museum, and Ypres.

Year 9 French-History Trip: Day 2 - Devonshire Cemetary, Flatiron Copse, Mametz Wood, Fricourt, Lochnagar Crater, Sunken Lane, Beaumont-Hamel and Thiepval.

Year 9 French-History Trip: Day 1 - Notre Dame de Lorette French cemetery, Cabaret Rouge British cemetery to pay our respects to RGS Old Boy, Captain Henry Hamp Hill and Vimy Ridge Canadian memorial.

Visiting Changi Prison, Singapore. A place of great suffering for Allied Prisoners of War during World War Two. Also, remembering the actions of Ian Fraser, V.C, Old Boy of RGS, and shared namesake of our Fraser Youens boarding house.

Day four - The Durham Light Infantry's attack at Lingèvres and Bayeux cemetery. A fantastic trip comes to an end. Now, the ferry and onward journey home. Thanks to all involved.

Day three - Parachute "jump", retracing steps of the 101st US Airborne division, St Mère Eglise and museum, reenactment of Michael Wittmann's final Tiger engagement, La Cambe German cemetery and Omaha Beach.

Mr Rose's re-creation of the "Atlantic Wall" explaining the issues the Allies faced landing in Normandy.

Day two - The Green Howards, Gold Beach, 360 Cinema, Stanley Hollis' VC, and the Bayeux Tapesty. Mr Taylor took the boys on a "War Walk" retracing the route of the Green Howards on 6th June 1944, along with a reenactment of Stanley Hollis' VC action at Crepon.

Day one of our D-Day residential - Pegasus Bridge. A visit to the Pegasus Bridge museum and memorial to discuss the actions of Major Howard and the Ox and Bucks in the early hours of the 6th June, 1944.

Yesterday, Year 7 experienced Medieval Day with falconry, archery, an armour and medicine workshop, cookery, and a reenactment of the Battle of Hastings (minus any loss of eyes 🏹)

Year 9 visited the First World War battlefields over the weekend. They paid homage to our own Old Boy Fraser Youens V.C, were taken on a tour of the historical sites, and stayed in the grounds of a beautiful chateau. Thank you to all involved and our boys who were outstanding.

Year 12 had a real taste of the British Experience of Warfare course today with live firing of a Brown Bess, P53 Enfield and Lee Enfield SMLE at Bisley Shooting Ground. Congratulations to Finlay who won the target competition! #history

The newest house competition took place today, with six boys competing for the “Mons Cup”. An assault course and blank ammunition fired from a Lee Enfield rifle. Thanks to Mr Rose for organising such a fantastic event and congratulations to Malachi for winning for Windsor house.

Year 7 channelled their inner Baldrick today during a medieval banquet in history
