Next week, I’ll start a new chapter at @USFAthletics with @RHiggins_USF, @brianhartline and the rest of the USF staff in Tampa. Could not be more excited to be a part of what’s being built there and the journey ahead.

Unbelievable finish- as @UConnHuskies shock @DukeMBB - all 3 Duke losses very similar but this is the biggest L as it was the dramatic money shot by the Huskies Diaper Dandy BRAYLON MULLINS that leads @dhurley15 to another trip to the Final 4 ! MARCH MADNESS BABY !

USF is finally being proactive instead of reactive
Mit Winter@WinterSportsLaw
South Florida released a case study describing how & why it’s now operating its athletics dept as a business. The department is described as a pro sports franchise & a major business enterprise. The study also notes USF is focused on acknowledging change & designing for it.

Josh Lowe just hit his first HR in an Angels uniform -- a three run shot.
You have to think his mom, Wendy Lowe who passed form brain cancer just weeks ago, was on his heart and mind in that moment.
I spoke with him before the game and he said, "I feel her when I take the field. She's with me."

I am writing as a Tampa Bay resident and a father — who respectfully urges your support for funding a new stadium for the Rays.
My son was diagnosed at age 4 with Selective Mutism, a severe anxiety disorder affecting approximately 1 in 140 children. Children with Selective Mutism are fully capable of speech, but their anxiety becomes so overwhelming in certain social situations that they are physically unable to speak. Common symptoms include the inability to speak; freezing or appearing expressionless in social settings; wearing oversized clothes to hide; and avoiding activities other children enjoy.
For almost four years, my son lived with these challenges in full. He refused to speak to anyone outside our immediate family, avoided leaving the house, and resisted every activity we tried to engage him in — swimming, music, karate, art, and more. He would cover himself head-to-toe in hoodies and long pants even on the hottest Florida days, wanting nothing more than to be invisible.
At age 7, his therapist began weekly immersion therapy — gradual, real-world exposure designed to gently push through the anxiety. One of those experiences was a Rays game at Tropicana Field. My son came dressed in his hoodie and sweatpants, and with some encouragement, I got him through the stadium gates. When we arrived in our seats, he asked me not to cheer. He didn't want anyone to notice him.
Then something remarkable happened. He became completely absorbed in the game. He wanted to come back. Over the next several weeks, we attended six more games — and at the last one, I looked over during player introductions and saw my son clapping his hands.
That moment changed everything. Baseball gave my son a way in. He and I began playing catch in the backyard. He agreed to a private hitting lesson, then a baseball day camp, then a week-long camp. Today, my son is on a little league team. He’s learned the importance of being a great teammate, how to deal with adversity, and that confidence grows through preparation and routine. He is also a huge Tampa Bay Rays fan, he proudly wears his Junior Caminero shirt, and this is our second year as season ticket holders.
My son is now 9.5 years old, and while he still faces challenges, he has largely overcome his mutism — and I firmly believe those first few games at the Trop set him on that path.
My son’s story is not unique. For countless children and families across our region, the Rays represent far more than a baseball team. They are a source of connection, inspiration, and personal growth.
I respectfully ask that you support the new ownership group — so that future generations of kids like my son can have their moment, too.

@TKras Rays should be 2-0 so hopefully they correct some things and start a winning streak. Rays Up!!

@iAmNickWize This! Seems the St Pete Times must be pissed or something. So much negativity lately. Rays need more unity during these times. Rays Up!!

This ownership group has done 5 community meetings, why didn’t you get your ass off the couch and go to one!?!
Why do we continue to not get this done.
