Is bad business practice and something that companies need to stop doing. The only people who are really going to be hit financially by this are people who are ALREADY RICH.

People should understand that this movie being leaked is a wakeup call to the industry. Sitting on a completed movie and doing absolutely nothing with it only to doom and insult it with a release only on paramount plus.

Do people not understand that the animators have... already been paid? They don't chain them up in a basement and only pay them when the movie is released. Even if the movie WAS going to release in theatres, it isn't common industry practice to give animators bonuses.

I have so many mixed feelings about this. As an animator who worked tirelessly on some productions that received an underwhelming official release, I can understand how frustrating it might be to see links and uploads of something you worked on circulating around like free candy. That said, the Avatar Movie will not be recieving a theatrical release. In fact, it's delayed until later this year to be released for only streaming. They have released no teaser or trailer for this film yet. Why? No idea. It's beyond disappointing how they insist on locking a film of this level of production quality behind a platform that very few people use to begin with. Between choosing to respect the creatives by waiting six months (a performative effort because the artists have already been paid) or refuse to support a streaming service owned by a billion dollar company that donates money to Trump and Israel, I don't blame people for choosing to watch the leaked movie. I wouldn't support Paramount either. I truly hope this doesn't negatively impact current or future Avatar Studios productions, but honestly the way they were disrespecting the franchise by delaying the promotion and release of this film showed how little they cared about it to begin with.

I was there for Homestuck. I was there in the Tumblr days of Seven Universe and Gravity Falls. I was there for the formative years of online fandoms all across the internet. The TADC fandom is one of the most unruly, childish fandoms I've ever had the displeasure of interacting with. Instead of being happy that a small indie studio get's a chance at a theatrical release, y'all want to boycott it because you want it to "stay niche" and don't want the medium to mature and grow, and push bigger studios like Disney and Pixar out of the spotlight for once. Despite what it might seem like on the internet, Glitch is small peanuts compared to those giants. The rest of the world outside of the internet bubble has NO IDEA what TADC even is, so these theatres need to be convinced that showing it will be worth it for them. On top of that, despite GLITCH being an Australian company; TADC is an American production. Of COURSE they're going to focus on where the show originated and where it's most popular for their initial theatrical release; but if you want to see it closer to you, YOU NEED TO REACH OUT AND ASK FOR IT. GLITCH can't do it all, THEY'RE INDIE. IT'S US. WE'RE THE DISTRIBUTORS. It's just like Iron Lung all over again, but GLITCH is getting shit on instead of supported like Iron Lung was. I grew up in a time where I had to dodge spoilers for limited releases, and I managed to do it. Avoiding spoilers is surprisingly easy, you're just too entitled. We should absolutely be supporting an indie studio when they make moves like this. It's unheard of for something like this to be happening, and these projects are backed by real people with real passions. GLITCH doesn't make their money from YouTube views, they make it on merch and MAYBE, JUST MAYBE, they'll make a LITTLE revenue from these movie releases, but we have to support them if we want to see more projects like Iron Lung and TADC moving into the big screens.
