Agreed, an emerging technology for trainees to be aware of 👍🏻

🔬💥 Photon-Counting CT: A Game Changer for Coronary Artery Imaging 🫀🧠 Coronary CT angiography is entering a new era with Photon-Counting CT (PCCT) — a quantum leap in image quality, tissue characterization, and artifact suppression. Unlike conventional CT, PCCT uses direct conversion detectors to count and characterize each individual photon, enabling: 🔹 Ultra-high spatial resolution (down to 100 μm) 🔹 Native spectral imaging without dual-energy switching 🔹 Reduced electronic noise and improved contrast-to-noise ratio 🔹 Lower radiation dose with better diagnostic performance 🚫💥 The real power? Tackling the toughest challenges in coronary imaging: 🦴 Heavy coronary calcifications 💣 Conventional CT suffers from blooming artifacts that obscure the vessel lumen. ✅ PCCT dramatically reduces blooming, restoring visibility of the true lumen. 🧱 Coronary stents Stents are notoriously hard to assess due to metallic artifacts. ✅ PCCT enhances in-stent lumen visualization, even for small-diameter or overlapping stents. 🌈 Spectral characterization of plaque With voxel-based multi-energy imaging, PCCT enables non-invasive tissue composition analysis: lipid-rich, fibrotic, or calcified — no assumptions, no interpolation. 🚀 The result? A paradigm shift in coronary artery disease evaluation — sharper images, better plaque differentiation, and reliable visualization even in the most challenging cases. Movie: stent on middle LAD with heavily calcified proximal LAD; also presence of LAD to pulmonary artery fistula. #PCCT #PhotonCountingCT #VulnerablePlaque #CardiacImaging #AIinCardiology #CardiologyInnovation #SpectralImaging #FFRCT #CAD #SpectralCT #CoronaryCTA #StentImaging #CalcificationReduction #InnovationInImaging

Answer MCQ 73: Correct Answer: B. LI-RADS 4 Explanation: LI-RADS 5 requires arterial phase hyperenhancement + washout OR capsule + ≥20 mm in a lesion with HCC risk. This lesion has APHE and capsule but lacks washout, making it LI-RADS 4. LI-RADS 3 is for indeterminate lesions lacking major features. LI-RADS M is for malignancies not specific for HCC, such as cholangiocarcinoma or metastases, which is not suggested here. #Radiology #AbdominalRadiology #LiverImaging #MRI #LI_RAD

MCQ 73: 🚨 Tough Liver MRI Quiz — Only a few typically get this right! A 63-year-old male with cirrhosis undergoes a multiphasic liver MRI. There is a 2.1 cm lesion in segment VIII that is iso-intense on T1, mildly hyperintense on T2, shows arterial phase hyperenhancement, no washout in the portal venous phase, but demonstrates capsule appearance on delayed phase. Alpha-fetoprotein is mildly elevated. According to LI-RADS v2018, how should this lesion be categorized? #radiology #liver #meded #meded #raded
