A lot of the highly paid white collar workers who may soon lose jobs to AI must be in the top 10% of the US taxpayers. The same top 10% that accounts for 50% of consumer spending & 60% of the federal income tax revenues.

Huge placebo effect that can't adequately be blinded due to euphoria. As an adult feel free to take whatever drugs you want, just don't pretend it is medicine!

The variability of the effects by individual do make it a challenging medicine to dose, so titrating up is a must. I think thats the biggest deal, doc...it's not one size fits all and a small group of folks should never have it. But cannabis is a medicine for me and at 50+ I'm on zero prescription meds as a result... Sulfa meds are an analogy I'd use...they are miracle drugs for most but cause my throat to close, and will kill me. Still a medicine, just not universal. Appreciate the libertarian breadcrumbs in the bio...

Was Pedanius Dioscorides not taught in med school? We've had catalogs of medicines since before Christ. The silly Egyptians prescribed the poppy for pain in 1500BC.
Plants are medicine. Period.

Medicine is a science, completely different from the potions of arsenic, hemlock, and mercury and barbers performing surgery. People used plants for medicinal purposes based on anecdotal evidence, not blinded, placebo controlled studies.
Again, it's all anecdotal. I'm sure some booze would decrease his tremors as well. But with the rare exception of methanol poisoning, no one will argue that alcohol is a medicine, despite being used for hundreds of years for everything from digestive disorders to insomnia. (We now know that it makes both worse).
None of this is to say you can't use substances recreationally. I occasionally enjoy a good IPA, and if I was allowed to I might choose to partake in cannabis every once in a while. But neither of them are medications.

For 300k years, medicines were the plants. They still are. They just don't get taught in med school.

@Radle 50% of all medications are derived from nature, 25% from plants. But that doesn't make willow bark, opium poppy, foxglove, pacific yew tree bark, or hundreds of others medication.
