Another church set on fire last night, this time in Saint-Romain, Quebec. Invaders are attacking our women, children and every fabric of our societies. All while politicians give them preferential treatment and put laws in place to protect them from even simple criticism.

Soon, there could be more businesses than consumers. It’s like a market with more sellers than buyers in real estate. Fun fact is, Only about 10% of business startups survive long term, roughly 2% become highly profitable, around 1% reach unicorn status, and most shut down within the first two years. The question is, will you make it into the top 2%?

Big Brain Business

Mary Barra, Chairman and CEO of General Motors, on the single most underrated trait that separates high performers from everyone else: It's not intelligence, experience, or even talent. She is direct about it: "In my experience, in school and career, at work and at play, there are lots of talented people out there. But talent alone isn't enough. You need something more." That "something more" is what most people overlook entirely. "One thing that distinguishes those who really make a difference in life, those who really contribute, is passion and hard work. Remember, hard work beats talent, if talent doesn't work hard." But @mtbarra takes it further than just working hard. Because working hard quietly, passively, and waiting for your turn doesn't move the needle either. Most people operate on the edges. They show up, do the work they're assigned, and wait to be noticed. Barra says that mindset is exactly what holds people back: "Don't be content to work around the edges of your profession. Don't wait to be invited to important meetings or asked to work on crucial assignments. Instead, do what it takes to ensure that you're in the middle of your business." The underrated trait is proactive hard work, not just hard work alone. "Speak up, volunteer, show your enthusiasm, knock on doors." And the compounding effect of that behaviour is significant at every level of an organisation: "As an employee, your enthusiasm will make your job more interesting and get you noticed. As a manager, your passion will inspire others to join your team and work as hard as you to accomplish great things." The people who consistently rise are the ones who stopped waiting for permission and started showing up like the work already mattered to them, because it always did.

JD Vance is still blaming Joe Biden for energy prices. It’s been 15 months since Trump took over. He promised to cut all energy prices in half in his first 18 months. Instead they are up over 25% in many cases. And they still blame Biden!

Indian woman archers. 10,000 BCE. Bhimbetka. Now show me women warriors from around the world from the same period. I'll wait. Because most civilizations from 10,000-2000 BCE don't even have figurative art at this scale—let alone documented women with weapons in public, active, equal. But we've been taught India "oppressed" women. That we needed Victorian England to "liberate" us. Victorian England—where women couldn't own property until 1882. Where riding a bicycle was considered too physically strenuous for the "delicate" female body. Meanwhile, 10,000 years earlier, Indian women held bows. The "backward India" story required erasing 10,000 years of counter-evidence. And we helped. We internalized it. We stopped looking at our own rocks. Bhimbetka didn't fit the script. So it stayed in footnotes. Who decided that Victorian morality was "progress" and our own history was "primitive"? 🏹 And why are we still teaching it?

Not sure how accurate this data is, but even directionally, two things stand out. A lot of what kills us is systemic, like poor air quality (see link in comments), broken food systems, and infrastructure. But a meaningful chunk is also within our control, like how we eat, move, sleep, and take care of ourselves. Image: @OurWorldInData

HOW MANY OF THESE THINGS HAVE YOU NOTICED: 1. Supermarkets place essentials like milk at the back so you walk through the store and pick up things you didn’t plan to buy. 2. Grocery stores fill the air with the smell of fresh-baked bread (or vanilla/citrus scents) so you get hungry and buy more on impulse. 3. Restaurants play fast, upbeat music so you eat quicker and leave sooner… Making space for the next customer. 4. Supermarkets put expensive brand-name items at eye level so you grab them first and skip the cheaper options lower down. 5. Malls don’t have windows so you won’t realize it’s already dark outside… You lose track of time and stay longer. 6. Checkout lanes are lined with candy, magazines, and small gadgets so you add impulse buys while you wait in line. 7. Cafés play slow, relaxing music so you stay longer and end up ordering more. 8. Bars don’t display clocks so you don’t notice how long you’ve been there… You keep drinking, spending more. Everything is intentional. Nothing is random.

Elon Musk calls out the system—arguing that people are taxed at every step, only to see that money spent on things they don’t even support. "You get taxed on what you earn, you get taxed on what you buy, and you get taxed on what you own." "Taxes, taxes, taxes." "And then what does it get spent on? A bunch of stuff you don't even agree with." "That's why we need to reduce the size of government."
