Interesting that in today’s GQ interview, one of the last questions brought up Mikhail Prokhorov, the Russian billionaire Jay Z once did business with through the Nets and Barclays Center. Prokhorov previously held 80 percent of the team and 45 percent of the arena. What makes that mention stand out even more is that Prokhorov’s name also appears in Epstein related material that has been released by the DOJ. Jay Z’s name also comes up in the same released documents on an FBI intake form—a mention that has not been addressed to date. In the screenshots he, one email says, “Prokhorov asking to meet Warren Buffett. Can we organize.” Another says, “It can be Prokhorov, he gives girls necklaces like this.” Another message warns it was “better not to talk to him a lot at the party, bad for reputation.” There is also a reference describing his “business illegal,” which is how it appears in the document. Separately, Prokhorov was arrested in France in connection with a suspected international prostitution ring, where he was accused of procuring young women for wealthy associates. The charges were later dropped. So in the middle of what appears to be an effort to repair his public image, it is interesting that this interview chose to reference a former business partner with a controversial history. Especially at a time when names connected to Epstein continue to draw scrutiny, and this is someone who has also been referenced in that same context, despite no charges ultimately sticking.
