I am one of countless individuals who benefited from working with Rev. Jesse Jackson Sr., a true Civil Rights Icon and Human Rights Leader. His 1988 Presidential run was a watershed moment that inspired a new generation of Black leaders to become lawmakers. I had the privilege of serving as an Advisor on his National Commission for Voter Justice, which worked to combat voter suppression. I also contributed to the Federal Anti-Lynching Legislation that he championed and engaged in his efforts to inspire Black elected officials from across the European continent. I am grateful for these opportunities and the lessons learned along the way. My condolences to the Jackson family and Rainbow Push Coalition.
