@sportsrapport Also, there isn't the same degree of impropriety on Vrabel's part, as sleazy as it all is. Udoka and Moore were both involved with subordinates, and there were questions of consent and abuse.

The NYT is in a bind because it was their own employee
ESPN has covered it through a comprehensive Ben Strauss story and Mike Reiss broke the news that Vrabel was leaving the draft for therapy, but Dianna is a former employee of theirs and that also makes it tricky for them

@sportsrapport The New York post is covering it but the NYT, ESPN, and all the sports networks are pretty mum.

@GlassOfBennett You got the best and worst of it, that's for sure.

HISTORY HAS BEEN MADE 🫨
Sabastian Sawe becomes the first person ever to break the 2-hour barrier in official race conditions, storming to a historic 1:59:30‼️
@KejelchaYomif, on his marathon debut, also breaks 2 hours with a stunning 1:59:41 and @jacobkiplimo2 clocks 2:00:28, also faster than the previous world record 😤

@tylerjschoon I feel a lot better about things after seeing them go for so much volume with the later round picks. They have a type of guy they went, and they're giving themselves a bunch of options. Without a sure thing on the board, I think it made sense.

I think the two questions have yes answers but maybe aren't specific enough to the Slaughter pick:
1. Do I trust Hortiz as an evaluator? Totally. Specifically IOL? Not yet!
2. Do I trust MM knows and can identify what he wants? One billion percent. Has that translated to great, consistent G play/development? Not yet!
As always, it's a wait and see. All the pieces from all parties are there to make it work. Good coaches, great talent, and by all accounts, great people. But there's some difficult ANDs that have to be strung together:
Can Joe Hortiz nail an IOL addition AND can Mike McDaniel's staff develop a long-term good guard AND can Jake Slaughter become good/great at a position he's never played before?
I personally believe McDaniel/Barry will make the pick work, which will make the rest work itself out! Hortiz has never had that duo with the Chargers before. We've seen how Minter has 180'ed or launched a dozen careers and picks on defense.
