The migration was as a result of the search for a better life and a means of escape of war. That mass immigration of Italians to Argentina changed the demographics of the Argentine populace. In Argentina today, it's believed that at least 30 millions people have some form of Italian ancestry. That's more than 60% of the Argentine population. Argentina’s strong Spanish culture is mixed with their core Italian-acquired traits and it's seen in their lifestyles. Italian customs are held highly in Argentina. They share the love for similar foods too. It's also believed that nearly 60% of Argentine surnames have Italian roots. So, Argentines love Italians and vice versa and it's why Scaloni, and possibly many Argentines are unhappy about Italy’s World Cup miss.
