I know the Rumbold Arms well - I have spent a lot of time there. Great team, proper pub. Ricky, the landlord, is a top bloke. Running a pub in this climate is bloody hard work and he certainly does not need arrogant politicians messing him around. Goodwin should apologise to Ricky. I've got Ricky's number. Reform UK hurt a local business on Sunday. Matt Goodwin, a Reform A-lister, booked a room in the Rumbold Arms, a Great Yarmouth pub. Reform's county organiser phoned the pub three times to arrange for the pub to open 1 hour early. Other lucrative bookings were turned down to accommodate this. On the day, Reform UK decided to abandon the pub and not pay the owner. The owner's first indication of this cancellation was a member of Matt Goodwin's team turning the public away from the pub, saying the event had been cancelled. The pub landlord has been very kind to Reform UK in the past, even allowing the party to rent room in the pub for free during Rupert Lowe's campaign for parliament. During the 2024 election, the pub opened 4 hours early to help Reform. The Pub has long been Reform UK's base of operations in Great Yarmouth, all branch meetings are held there. The owner says: "This is a Rupert Lowe pub, in here, we all support Rupert Lowe, if Rupert ever wants to rent a room here, he can have it for free." It's unsurprising the local Reform branch has suffered a wave of defections to Restore Britain. Even one of the current Reform candidates applied to stand on behalf of Rupert Lowe in the local elections. Since Rupert's departure from Reform UK, the pub has charged Reform normal rental fees. On Sunday, Reform didn't pay at all because Goodwin's team didn't follow through on the booking. One eye witness claims they were standing outside the Rumbold Arms when Matt Goodwin's vehicle stopped outside for a few seconds, a passenger in Goodwin's vehicle pointed at the witness, and Matt Goodwin made eye contact for a moment before driving away. Why did this happen? The current leading theory is that Goodwin was afraid of being questioned by a Vox Populi media team who were waiting nearby. Whatever Goodwin's motivation was, one thing is clear: Great Yarmouth stands with Rupert Lowe.
