I saw a guy saying, “This woman should never be allowed in a church.” Personally, I think she should be welcomed. What do you think, would she be welcome in your church?

Team USA figure skater Amber Glenn says she will not be accepting the White House invitation: “I’m electing not to either, so I do not blame them whatsoever. It is our right to be able to choose what we do and don’t endorse, and I think it is a decision that each individual has the right to make.”

Jesse Owens of USA winning gold for the long jump in the summer Olympics in Germany, 1936.⁣⁣ ⁣⁣ The man saluting behind Owens is Lutz Long, a German who shared training tips with Owens and was the first to openly congratulate him after his final jump in full view of Hitler. After the Olympics, the two kept in touch via mail. Below is Long's last letter to Owens while he was stationed with the German Army in North Africa during World War 2. Long was later killed in action during the allied invasion of Sicily in 1943.⁣⁣ ⁣⁣ "I am here, Jesse, where it seems there is only the dry sand and the wet blood. I do not fear so much for myself, my friend Jesse, I fear for my woman who is home, and my young son Karl, who has never really known his father.⁣⁣ My heart tells me, if I be honest with you, that this is the last letter I shall ever write. If it is so, I ask you something. It is a something so very important to me. It is you go to Germany when this war done, someday find my Karl, and tell him about his father. Tell him, Jesse, what times were like when we not separated by war. I am saying—tell him how things can be between men on this earth.⁣⁣ ⁣⁣ If you do this something for me, this thing that I need the most to know will be done, I do something for you, now. I tell you something I know you want to hear. And it is true.⁣⁣ ⁣⁣ That hour in Berlin when I first spoke to you, when you had your knee upon the ground, I knew that you were in prayer.⁣⁣ ⁣⁣ Then I not know how I know. Now I do. I know it is never by chance that we come together. I come to you that hour in 1936 for purpose more than der Berliner Olympiade.⁣⁣ ⁣⁣ And you, I believe, will read this letter, while it should not be possible to reach you ever, for purpose more even than our friendship.⁣⁣ ⁣⁣ I believe this shall come about because I think now that God will make it come about. This is what I have to tell you, Jesse.⁣⁣ ⁣⁣ I think I might believe in God.⁣⁣ And I pray to him that, even while it should not be possible for this to reach you ever, these words I write will still be read by you.⁣⁣ ⁣⁣ Your brother,⁣⁣ Luz"⁣⁣ More chilling historical photos: bit.ly/46yA996

@WillTheSkillet2 @NFL @NFLPlus I wanted a dog my whole life growing up. Parents never got me one. Moved out of the house and got my own apartment. Dogs not allowed. Got me a parakeet and named it, “Dog.”

@NFL @NFLPlus I love Matthew Stafford. But I don’t agree with parents that do this. It’s the parent’s award, not the kid’s! Teach kids they have to earn their own awards!

Petre “Peter the Great” Mshvenieradze (1929–2003) was a leading figure in Soviet Georgian water polo. He competed for the Soviet Union in three Olympic Games, earning a bronze medal in 1956 and a silver medal in 1960. He played a pivotal role in the notorious 1956 Olympic semifinal against Hungary, a fierce match that took place amid the Hungarian Revolution. His sons, Giorgi and Nuzgari Mshvenieradze, followed in his footsteps as water polo players for the USSR, carrying on the family’s strong legacy in the sport.

We are saddened by the passing of three-time All-Star and 1968 World Series MVP Mickey Lolich. Lolich spent 13 of his 16 Major League seasons with the Tigers, while also pitching for the Mets and Padres. In 1968, Lolich hurled 3 complete game victories against St. Louis in the World Series to lead Detroit back from a 3-1 deficit and win the championship in seven games. His finest season came in 1971 when he led the American League in wins (25), starts (49), complete games (29), innings pitched (376), and strikeouts (308), while finishing second in AL Cy Young voting. Lolich won 217 career games and his 2,832 career strikeouts are 5th all-time among left-handed pitchers behind only Randy Johnson, Steve Carlton, CC Sabathia, and Clayton Kershaw. Lolich was 85 years old.
