@Magmarman26 @JreSeawolf Would imagine class action would normally be path to take for something like this, but unsure if there's really even an argument for it since AR scanning was always opt-in and this was all laid out in ToS :/

Whether or not in-game items/currency is a fair trade for real-world data to build a training model from is very subjective, and totally valid if you think it's not But saying Niantic "tricked" its players feels bad faith for how vocal they've pretty much always been about it 🤷‍♂️

I genuinely do not think that anyone that has continued playing this game is surprised by this. If anything it's been a long-standing pain point for hardcore players that Niantic *always* prioritized AR + data collection over the quality of the game itself.

I'm by no means a Niantic defender but NewsForce saying "players had no idea and weren't compensated!" is a pretty sensationalist way of framing this. AR scan quests have always been very obvious, opt-in, *and* rewarded in-game. It is very easy (and common) to skip.

@OutOfPoket_ @89CGYFlamesFan @keapton in pvp you simply tap screen, but in shiny hunting + pve you have to tap screen AND swirl screen in circles with precision. It is literally twice as difficult.

It's very elitist that many PVP streamers describe shiny hunters and raid experts "lacking skill" when shiny hunting and PVE arguably require much more skill than PVP

Pokémon go is so interesting, to me it just looks like fast tapping on the screen but considering how dominant these players are results wise there’s obvs something I’m missing. I just don’t know what.

@IsaiahToth_Dev Isn't there a direct prompt from Kickstarter warning you that projects can fall through without you receiving anything when you back? Feels like this shouldn't be a surprise. I can understand the frustration of the game shutting down abruptly when nothing seemed wrong though.

To be fair, I also think this is awful but it IS the risk you take in blindly backing something. Its how kickstarter works. If you dont vet the project or the devs well enough, it technically falls on you. Its a risk.

They wanted $100,000 - they got $300,000 and they STILL ran off with people's hard earned money. There's no recourse for any backers, no one's getting a red cent. This has really poisoned the well for all future JRPG kickstarter projects, the trust is now gone and I'm so upset.
