RightGIF

RightGIF is dead. Long live RightGIF. The /gif command will no longer work from whenever we switch off the server...maybe tomorrow, maybe the next day.

GIF search is still shit on nearly every platform, and I hope one day to revisit the problem. Or not. Who really knows. For now though...

On a personal note, RightGIF was a neat side project that never got the time or attention it deserved (I've been busy trying to earn a living) and has slowly degraded over time. It's sad to see it go, but go it must.

Hey cool news! Our database provider finally agreed that the problem was at their end! RightGIF is back. Apologies for the lack of quality GIFs over the past 24 hours.

Our database is inaccessible but our provider says it isn't. We're now debating the definition of "accessible" in the hope that it fixes it.

Our database crashed... but it's Sunday morning and I'm a little hungover. Give me a minute ok.

@TerrillLR Sorry. I went on holiday. ☀️⛱️🧴😎 Try re-running the same request a couple times and see if it fixes itself. There were some caching issues I fixed (maybe)

We apologise for the recent errors with RightGIF. We believe the remaining issues have now been resolved and the responsible parties have all been fired. We appreciate your patience in this matter.

@Zedarius Yeah, I fixed some things* *for varying definitions of "fixed" I need to fix some more caching things it looks like...

@RightGIF We're noticing more of the "Computer says no" failed searches lately in our Slack. Has anything changed over the last month or so?

Ok, so we found the server login and fixed some stuff. If you're still getting a bunch of errors, let us know and we'll look at it in a year or two.

@partkyle our "crowd" filters the GIFs. You can use the "report inappropriate" button to flag it. Thanks for reporting!

@chipadeedoodah very sorry :( Slack removed the ability for users to delete responses to slash commands. Admins can still delete. Sorry!
