I share a lot on social media, but it wouldn’t feel right not to share something that could help someone grow closer to God. My family and I have committed to a 40-day fast — the entire household, even the one away at college. I’m inviting anyone who wants to grow spiritually, practice discipline, and reflect on Christ to consider joining us. With that in mind, I’m sharing what I shared with my family. Family, As we move into Lent, I want us to do something intentional together — not just as individuals, but as a family. Lent is a season of reflection, discipline, and drawing closer to God, and I think this is a great opportunity for us to reset spiritually. Here’s what I’m asking of all of us: 1. Each of us gives up something for Lent This can be something personal and meaningful — food, habits, distractions, social media, drinking, complaining, etc. The goal isn’t punishment, but creating space for God. 2. Daily Bible reading — same reading, on our own time Every day, we’ll all read the same Bible passage, but on our own schedule. No pressure on timing. Just consistency. You don’t have to be perfect. You don’t have to understand everything. Just show up and read. Even a few minutes a day matters. This isn’t about being religious — it’s about being intentional, disciplined, and connected as a family. Im giving up alcohol, all forms of sugar other than fruit, and social media. The portal opened on the 2nd, then will become CLOGGED in less than an hour due to a dead period, then unclogged at midnight on Thursday for a mad dash to the finish line at 12:00am of the 17th. Meanwhile, there’s a thing called “SCHOOL” that has already started with admissions and class availability looming. Plus life things like moving from other places, dorm space and apartment leases, roommates, and the like. Moreover, football stuff like off-season training and building team chemistry. Shoot, and that’s not an exhaustive list as it’s just stuff off the top of my head. I just had a visit conclude hours ago and all this stuff was on my heart thinking of the current landscape of college football. Regardless: Love the players unconditionally whether they go or stay. That’s the proper thing to do as a coach—as difficult as it may be. Like Will Smith said in Bad Boys 2: Psssh, don’t hate the playah hate the game. Much love and positivity to you all🤟🏾

The problem is a lot of other teams and coaches are not like Coach Cignetti and they only focus on the stars. It’s even harder now for the high school kids and if they don’t have the stars, they don’t get a chance. We even put stars on the transfer athletes. I love the story that was written about how Coach Cignetti evaluates players.
