What CAN be changed is Claire's reaction to Alfred.
She calls him a "cross-dressing freak", and that's something that isn't *necessary* for his characterization
To be clear, I don't need ANY changes here, but if there is any, this is where it could be done

I believe this aspect of Alfred NEEDS TO REMAIN.
He makes the audience uncomfortable, he sells the fiction about his sister, and he is over the top in a charming way. All of this makes him a great villain, and this characterization should NOT be changed in the remake
